A Florida city councilman is facing growing bipartisan calls for his removal after posting inflammatory comments about Indian Americans on social media and then doubling down on his remarks, triggering outrage from fellow Republicans, state legislators, and community members.
Palm Bay City Councilman Chandler Langevin wrote on X.com about people who are from India, accusing those living in the country of exploiting the United States, according to Click Orlando. His posts, which called for the deportation of all Indians and a halt to migration from India, have been widely condemned as racist.
Langevin stated last week on X: “There’s not a single Indian that cares about the United States. They are here to exploit us financially and enrich themselves.”
The posts calling for all Indians to be deported and attacking the Indian American community prompted immediate backlash, according to WESH 2 reporter Megan Moriarty. Rather than walking back his comments, Langevin has since doubled down on them.
Space Coast Daily reported that Langevin has claimed that fellow Republicans issued “copy-paste” statements in support of Indian Americans only because he had spoken out against migration. In a follow-up comment, he said that diversity is “not our strength” and criticized those emphasizing inclusion.

Many have been here a long time - they are citizens, or long-term green card holders. They have good jobs, and are paying taxes, their children were born here and have gone to US schools. If they immigrated legally, play by the rules, and are useful citizens, what’s wrong with that?
The councilman speaks about Indians and the author keeps confusing them with Indian Americans.
They stole American jobs.
Deport anyone who can here in the last 40 years who has not become a citizen.
They didn't steal anything. We gave them the jobs at the expense of our kids and Vets, because we wanted the cheaper prices.
If you want to deport the people who are responsible for this, deport the free traitors.
The problem is when they come over here in such large numbers they bring their cultural values along with them. I’d say the same thing about Muslims. They are just not a good fit for our society. If they were just bringing over a few hundred of the top tier Indians that would be one thing but we already have millions of them here now.
I'll tell you why: they take over professions, only hiring other Indians, locking out everyone else.
I've been laid off ELEVEN MONTHS NOW in the Silicon Valley. Every interview I manage to get, save one, was with a recent Indian transplant. I've taped out many chips, but no matter - I get rejected, with no reason given why.
That isn't ME being racist, that's observing what is plainly obvious - THEIR racism / tribalism / nepotism.
Amen. They also bring their caste system here.
They stole the jobs and they’re arrogant about it.
They're doing what American businesses and Americans consumers also did, choosing cheap labor over Americans.
As for me, I was hired due in part to the input from Indians who interviewed me.
I know at least 4 indian physicians in their late seventies.
They all graduated from medical schools in India, came here for their residency and then enlisted in the Navy - I think they served 4 years. Mostly on aircraft carriers. They’re all naturalized , totally assimilated US citizens.
Good solid people - and so are their children and grandchildren.
The problem is the thinly veiled H1B scam that needs to be stopped.
I think the program needs to be stopped immediately.
Those who are here under the H1B program should be given 6 months to leave.
You don't have to steal something that someone is giving you.
“If they immigrated legally, play by the rules, and are useful citizens, what’s wrong with that?”
They’re f__king racists.
“their children were born here and have gone to US schools.”
Their (Indians’) children are the “mean girl mafia” at my niece’s school — kids who have turned her against whites. And you ask, “What’s wrong with that?”
No; they all need to leave and take their disgusting arrogant racist caste culture with them.
Times of India “A coalition of unions, educators, and religious groups has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s administration’s new H-1B visa rule, calling it “arbitrary and capricious”. It is the first major lawsuit against the move that set the $100,000 charge for every new H-1B visa.”

I don’t remember voting for any union, educator or religious group. If Indian scabs are so talented, hard working and motivated, they can stay in India and work to make it better instead of coming here and making us worse.
It doesn’t create a hardship for any existing H-1Bs, so it is only “arbitrary & capricious” because they don’t like it.
American Jobs For Americans. I voted for this.
There are scummy Americans who helped enable this disaster…
…but to ignore the culpability of the blatantly obvious cultural drive to only hire their own - getting down to the caste level in many cases - is naive beyond belief.
You (and your like-minded co-horts) living in fantasy-land is part of the reason why many good Americans - like myself - are being driven into LITERAL bankruptcy.
