Afederal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to use emergency funds to pay for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program amid the government shutdown.
As a result of the month-long government shutdown, SNAP benefits for November have not been funded. U.S. District Judge John McConnell, an Obama appointee, blocked the Trump administration from cutting off SNAP benefits, and ordered the roughly $5.25 billion emergency fund be used to cover it, The Hill news outlet reported.
The fund will not fully cover November SNAP benefits that 40 million people receive, which will cost the government upwards of $9 billion.
McConnell rejected arguments that the emergency fund can only be used for hurricanes or other uncontrollable catastrophes.

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Amerisource Health Services issued voluntary nationwide recalls earlier this month of more than 580,000 bottles of the blood pressure medication, according to the FDA, the Associated Press reported Friday.
Prazosin is prescribed by doctors to help lower blood pressure, and sometimes for people with post-traumatic stress disorder who have nightmares and other sleep disturbances.
The FDA said that it gave the affected lots of the drug a Class II risk classification last week because some of the recalled medication may have nitrosamine impurities that are considered potentially cancer-causing. These impurities can form during the manufacture or storage of a drug.

“FBI Washington Field Office assesses the use of AMMC as a clearinghouse for Trump campaign spending is likely vulnerable to campaign finance crimes by campaign-connected sub-vendors,” the intelligence bulletin said.

Until today I had nothing against them, generally would consider myself a supporter, and valued much of the research and scholarship it produced. The people I have interacted with there have seemed genuine and principled.
It’s why the actions of Heritage President Kevin Roberts disgust me so much.
As you know, I long ago soured on Tucker Carlson, who has become a demonic force for the normalization of Jew hatred in the GOP by washing disreputable figures through the laundry of Tucker softball interviews.
Something changed with him. I don’t know what changed with him, but what he’s doing now is trying to set Christians against Jews. It’s very clear: he brings in not just these crank theories, Nazi revisionist historical theories, but he also brings on people who blame Jews for the purge of Christians in the Muslim world. It’s completely insane. Israel is the only place in the Middle East where the Christian population is increasing. In all the countries around it they’ve been depopulated of Christians just like they’ve been depopulated of Jews.

So what’s motivating Tucker? I don’t know. All I know is he’s playing a very dangerous game. He’s doing it deliberately. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
Maybe he’s playing to the bigger audience. There are close to 2 billion Muslims in the world; there are 20 million Jews, and bashing Jews, blaming Jews for everything, [and] coming to the defense of the Mullahs in Iran like he did, interviewing the leader of Qatar. All those sort of things play to a much bigger audience.

Our Government lawyers do not think we have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain monies we have available, and now two Courts have issued conflicting opinions on what we can and cannot do. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT. Therefore, I have instructed our lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP as soon as possible. It is already delayed enough due to the Democrats keeping the Government closed through the monthly payment date and, even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while States get the money out. If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay. The Democrats should quit this charade where they hurt people for their own political reasons, and immediately REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT.
