“The Empire” didn’t bring slavery anywhere. It was almost universally practiced. When Columbus landed in the Western Hemisphere, he found the natives were terrified of another tribe who took them as slaves. The islands of the West Indies HAD slavery before any European knew the place existed.

Universally practiced slavery is not the slavery that many of our Founding Fathers fought against - that was the slavery brought here exclusively by the Empire.

The Brookes was a British slave ship. We know this because that's what it says on the poster. This is how the slaves arrived brought by the Empire. So yes, the Empire brought slavery here.
