Failed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is trying to manifest her own destiny — insisting this week that she remains a top leader in the Democratic Party, despite November’s devastating loss and perception as a back stabber for shuffling her boss out of the race.
“I was the Democratic nominee for president,” the former vice president told the Wall Street Journal Friday. “I came close to winning. Of course I do.”
Harris – who was in Philadelphia plugging her new book “107 Days” about the 2024 loss to now President Donald Trump, declined to say whether the tour is the start of a political comeback that includes running for president in 2028.
But insiders told the Journal that the book — and critical reaction to it– shows that Harris’ leadership is faltering in the party.
Some longtime supporters told the outlet they are ready to move on from Harris, while more vocal Dems are openly airing their frustrations with Harris’s re-emergence — especially her book, which is critical of ex-President Joe Biden and her pool of choices for a running mate, before settling on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
In her tome, she characterized Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as overly ambitious and ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is gay, as someone who’d be politically risky running alongside a black woman.
Ashley Etienne, Harris’ former communications director, called the ex-veep’s book a a missed opportunity for not focusing on the Biden administration’s accomplishments and her role in them as the first female vice president.
“I would have advised her to write a different book, one that cements her legacy,” Etienne told The Journal.
Faiz Shakir, who ran Bernie Sanders’s 2020 presidential campaign, said the book affirms concerns people had about Harris.

She has not received a single vote for the Democrat nominee for President. How can she be a Democrat leader?
I got a wonderful lesson in leadership from a former Honeywell director. He said if you lead people will follow. Just chart a course and start leading. Take whatever authority you want. You’ll be amazed at how far you can go. The people whose authority you usurp generally won’t have the balls to call you out and most likely, you’re doing the job they should be doing. Once I authorized some critical weekend tests that the guy who should have signed off on literally fled the building to keep his signature off the paperwork. The following Monday he was angry, but the program manager asked, well where the heck were you? Thanks to this guy the job is done, and the money has been saved, so shut up.
The thing about Haris, is she isn’t leading. Nobody is leading. If she was leading, she’d be setting a new Democrat agenda and nobody has the balls to risk getting torn apart by the people who need to be left off that agenda, like the Trans people. Everyone is waiting for someone else to take charge. AOC and Mandani(?) are stepping up to the bat.
She also thinks she’s smart.
She’s as dumb as a bag of hair and narcissistic to boot.
What an obnoxious combination.
She might as well be. They’re as looney as she is.
Wait, what? I thought Nanzi Pelosi and George Looney were the FurriecRATS who shuffled him off to the beach.
Hence I’m baffled that nobody is leading Democrats.
The crown lies in the gutter, where fools & drunks play with it as a shiny toy.
Those expected to know better avoid it, presumably for reasons - perhaps to run out the short remainder of their careers.

A book focusing on the Biden administration’s accomplishments? A postcard would suffice...and half of that would be taken up by his pardoning of Thanksgiving turkeys.
The Peter principle: people in a hierarchy are promoted until they reach their “level of incompetence”.
Kamala Harris has managed to avoid this by following the Peter Puffer principle.
Wonder how many cubits of phallus she’s fellated? Yes, it’s a biblical amount.
