American figure skating star Alysa Liu had to change her routine music after the body of a missing teenage girl was found in a car registered to the artist of that music.

Liu's routine included the song "This Is How It Feels," by Icelandic singer Laufey Jónsdóttir and American David "d4vd" Burke, but then the body was found in an impounded Tesla that was reportedly registered to Burke.

"I have to change it, you know? Forced to change my hand, basically. But that’s alright," LMiss iu told The Associated Press. "I almost was grieving the process — ‘Oh, I have my programs. They were going to grow and evolve, and I was going to add more to it.’ But there’s nothing like a fresh start."

Liu's major figure skating "prep tournaments" for Milan:

October 24-26: Cup of China, Chungking, China November 14-16: Skate America, Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid, NY

December 4-7: ISU GP Final (Nagoya, based on points) January 5-8: United States Championship, Enterprise Center, St. Louis (national qualifiers, top three to Olympics)

This is also to ensure Mr. Burke is not paid royalties -- which is most crucial -- because Miss Liu could be deducted points for having the music because of the ongoing criminal investigation.

“... the artist of that music”? Wherefore “composer”?

Why change? “Earth Day” was founded by a murderer who left his victim in a trunk. “Kwanzaa” by a psycho who kidnapped and tortured two women. Both are still going strong.

Figure skating is a subjective sport, so judges can simply deduct points. Also, the US Figure Skating Association’s Safe Sport regulations prohibit artists who are currently under criminal investigation where the royalties become an issue (the composer in question would be paid royalties, which USFSA will not allow in the wake of major sex abuse scandals in the sport).

I dont see why. Its coincidental, nothing in the skaters control, shes not part of anything. Many people dont even know who the musician is for pieces of music they hear.

That song, about a failed love affair, is an odd pick for a theme song. If she wants something downtempo, I would suggest one of these, each of which exudes a positive mood:

The ban on the offending musician is to comply with the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017.

This is similar to churches’ bans on composers in sexual assault situations.
