My brother in law was dating a retired single lady in an upscale part of town north of Fort Worth. Lots of retired people and a lot of single widows.
He would drive over to her house, and if he didn’t hurry inside he was always greeted by the widowed neighbors. He finally quit going there as it was too much hassle dealing with the”hungry” neighbors.
Women outlive their spouses in many situations so many women are left alone.
