Online courtroom footage captured the moment Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin Tyler Robinson showed a flash of emotion as prosecutors officially filed to seek the death penalty.
Robinson, 22, looked at the floor and appeared dazed as he sat in court virtually from the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Tuesday.
'Is there any other business that we need to address today, counsel?' the judge asked.
The prosecutor responded: 'Just for the court's information, we did file just recently in the last few minutes the notice of intent to seek the death penalty.'
They added that the motion was filed by Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray, and notofied the judge that the document 'should now be on the court's file.'
A clip of Robinson reacting to the news that he could be put to death if convicted of Kirk's murder swept social media and received millions of views.
Many X users remarked on Robinson's distant demeanor, with one commenting: 'His soul has already left the building. Totally empty inside.'
Another said they could see Robinson take a 'big gulp' as he faced the music, and another said: 'No remorse, no regret, no emotions.'
At Robinson's first court hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors filed a protective order preventing him from contacting or attempting to harass Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk's wife.
He spoke only once, to confirm his identity and sat stoically as the judge read the seven counts he faces - including the capital murder charge that could see him executed by firing squad.

Rule #1. Do NOT text people and say you did it.
Hey! This is a family friendly site. Keep your Kamala stories in the Smokey back room.
I recall that post the other day. Pretty certain it referred to Unabomber Ted Kaczynski’s brother David. However, I don’t recall a fed deal with David Kaczynski that would prevent the death penalty.
It never occurred to him that he would be punished because Nazi
FWIW, that odd raiment we see in the pictures is a “turtle suit” that persons who are in suicide watch are made to wear. It protects them both from self-harm and from attacks by other prisoners. He’ll be staying in it until he convinces a prison psychologist that he isn’t suicidal anymore.
Gen Z stare is “My Zoloft hasn’t caught up yet”.
He violated a lot of “rules” ... like not murdering innocent people.
He also got his face on surveillance cameras. He was doomed from the start.
> it probably expected adulation as a hero to the movement <
Interestingly enough, John Wilkes Booth thought the same thing when he shot Abraham Lincoln. Booth thought the entire South would rise and embrace him.
Of course it didn’t end up that way. The South was indifferent, and Booth died in a burning barn like a cornered rat.
Glee?

This kid was supposed to be so smart. It was the sloppiest crime you could find. Does he not know there are cameras EVERYWHERE these days? He doesn’t know what gloves are? A mask???
My guess is he did what everyone in his generation does and wish he could unlive himself, thinking it would get people to cave to his demands. That got him an Ativan and a straight jacket. He will eventually get “overwhelmed” and have a “meltdown” which gets his azz tased.
Well Satan will get him at some point in his hands and he will not be smiling...gnashing of teeth and screaming is what will befell him...
Stupid people are born stupid and stay stupid.
Yup, realized he won’t be kissing his dog, or cat, or whatever his boyfriend is today.
You can’t make this stuff up!
It’s much harder to pull off in real life than in a video game.
I know. And some people still can't understand why the justice system in this country has become corrupt unprincipled and untrustworthy. The same lifer lawyers who operate in the justice system are the same exact one's who infiltrated government then subverted and corrupted it in every direction.
And they force the taxpayers to pay the bill for all this endless bull s*** as they get wealthy.
“notofied”, l think Will Potter needs to go back to school!
There’s smart, and then there’s smart.
He may be high IQ, but that doesn’t make him “smart” in the sense of planning an action, thinking through the possibilities, and taking steps to ensure personal and operational security. That stuff takes experience, at least. I suspect his experience tends more toward playing games and committing buggery.
Tim McVey stopped file appeals, first in December 2000, then reconfirmed that decision in June 2001.
He was executed June 11, 2001.
The whole claim was absurd. “I know where the perp is but I won’t tell you unless you meet these conditions” is a recipe for a criminal charge as an accessory to the crime after the fact.
