Ellen DeGeneres is facing some legal trouble.
A woman is suing the former talk show host for negligence, alleging that Ellen ignored a stop sign while driving in Santa Barbara, California, causing her to crash into the side of the plaintiff’s car, according to court documents obtained by People.
According to the lawsuit, the intersection where the incident occurred back in October 2023 “is controlled by stop signs in all directions.”
And while the woman alleged that she stopped for her stop sign and “made sure there were no other vehicles” before proceeding to move forward, per the outlet, Ellen allegedly “suddenly and without any warning” collided into her vehicle and “t-boned” her Tesla.
The woman went on to claim in the lawsuit, per People, that she suffered “multiple serious personal injuries and damages” as a result of the accident as well as wage loss, accrued hospital and medical expenses and “loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.”
While she has not publicly addressed the allegations, Ellen’s latest legal trouble comes amid her and wife Portia de Rossi’s new chapter since moving to the English countryside last year.
"Portia’s living her dream riding her horse through the English countryside and into the village," Ellen captioned a video of her wife riding a horse shared to Instagram Aug. 20. "Gosh I hope she comes home soon."
The Nosferatu memes...
As I recall in California you have one year to file such a lawsuit.
well her suit won’t go far then
Excellent! Wipe the pervert whore out!
I think you’ll find that the statute of limitations in California is two years for personal injury claims and three years for property damage claims.
Ellen always struck me as a VERY strange person, gay or not. Hope that woman sues the heck out of Ellen - and Portia.
She used to have a “comedy” show, iirc, in which the fun was in putting unsuspecting people in humiliating and embarrassing positions. Real funny stuff.
I guess. I was never an Ellen DeGeneres fan.
My understanding was from 40 years ago. Solo I guess it’s changed.
