Ukrainian strike ignites fire at Russia’s Saratov oil refinery -VIDEO

Ukrainian forces launched an overnight strike on Sept. 16 targeting the Saratov oil refinery in southwestern Russia, causing explosions and a major fire, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported.

The refinery, operated by Rosneft, produces more than 20 petroleum products—including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, and bitumen—and processed 4.8 million metric tons in 2023. Ukrainian authorities said the facility supports the Russian military, making it a strategic target, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.

The strike was reportedly carried out in coordination between Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces and other military branches. Officials are still assessing the full extent of the damage.

Saratov Oblast Governor Roman Busargin said emergency services were on high alert due to a potential drone attack. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses intercepted 87 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 18 over Saratov Oblast, though these reports could not be independently verified.

The refinery lies roughly 150 kilometers from Kazakhstan’s border and nearly 600 kilometers east of Ukraine’s front line. It has been targeted previously, including an Aug. 10 strike that reportedly forced operations to halt.

The latest attack adds to Russia’s growing gasoline shortage, which has been worsened by Ukrainian strikes on the country’s oil infrastructure.

Who cares how much territory or lives Ukraine loses daily, sociopathic Zeepers only care about hurting Russia.

You're as mentally ill as Lindsey Graham.

AI: How much refinery capacity exists in Russia? 5.5-5.6 million barrels/day

Russia’s domestic oil consumption — 3.6 million bpd. Production 9-10 million bpd. The rest exported, including some refined products.

The article says this refinery processes 4.8 million metric tons / year. The conversion to barrels is 7.2. So this is 34.6 million barrels Per Year. / 365 = 95K bpd, out of the 5.6 million above.

Important sentence: The refinery lies roughly 150 kilometers from Kazakhstan’s border and nearly 600 kilometers east of Ukraine’s front line. It has been targeted previously, including an Aug. 10 strike that reportedly forced operations to halt.

So it was repaired in about 1 month (which AI will confirm for typical refinery repair time).

So, there is talk of 20% refinery capacity loss. That is probably true as the sum of all loss events since 2022. Which are then restored in about 1 month.

These are media attacks. Not tactical or strategic.

They don’t need a reason to bomb an apartment building.

We’re only five and half months away from the fourth anniversary of Putin’s glorious invasion of the Ukraine...

An invasion that was supposedly supported by all Ukrainian’s whom would surely greet Putin and his troops with open arms as hero’s, and it would only last a matter of weeks... Which dragged into months, which have now dragged into what will be 4 years of death and destruction... And Putin’s only accomplishment has been more death and destruction and no resolution.

Hundreds of thousands of Russian families mourn the deaths of their loved ones... And while Putin hasn’t achieved even an inkling of the millions killed by his hero’s Stalin, Hitler and Mao Zedong... His feeble and forgettable attempt to emulate his hero’s will be scorned while he lives and forgotten soon after his inevitable demise, which frankly can’t come soon enough.

If Russia has been doing so great, why hasn’t Putin taken all of Ukraine in 3 1/2 years? Why has Russia run out of gasoline? Everyone has seen the long lines. If Russia has been doing so well why do they target civilians each night instead of military? Why is the Black Sea void of any military ships if Russia is so strong?

You're totally clueless as to what Russia's objectives were in regard to the war.

Russia's territorial objectives were 1) To liberate Donetsk and Lugansk and 2) To build a land bridge from Crimea to mainland Russia.

The latter was accomplished inside of seven months.

All that is left to do is clear out what is left of the Ukrainian military in a small portion of Donetsk.

For the past two years, the military objective for the Russians has been to destroy the Ukrainian army. And, the Ukrainian is being ground into dust.

If Russia has been doing so well why do they target civilians each night instead of military?

Do you realize how stupid that question is?

Russia could wipe out the entire population of Kiev with nuclear weapons.

The Russians are targeting civilians. It's propaganda to claim otherwise.

But, Ukraine for 11 years has absolutely targeted civilians in Donetsk. I've seen interviews with those that live there attesting to that.

Even Amnesty International acknowledge the Ukrainians used civilians as human shields in Mariupol.

You're spewing propaganda that's as bad as anything the left-wing media puts out.

I for one have no interest in “hurting Russia”, as in revenge, wishing harm to innocent civilians, etc.

However, my interest is in STOPPING Putin and his fellow gangsters. Far, far more is at stake than Ukraine.

As for Russia, Russia’s best bet, perhaps, would be a “Gorbachev” who is better at running things domestically than Goby was.
