Trump Now Considering Sending National Guard Into a Red State

President Donald Trump has a new city in his sights after he threatened to send the National Guard into Chicago and Baltimore in the name of fighting crime and deporting undocumented immigrants.

Trump has thus far targeted Democratic-run cities in Democratic-run states, but this time could be different, as the president eyes New Orleans — a Democratic-run “blue” city in the red state of Louisiana.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Wednesday, “So we’re making a determination now. Do we go to Chicago? Do we go to a place like New Orleans, where we have a great governor, Jeff Landry, who wants us to come in and straighten out a very nice section of this country that’s become quite, you know, quite tough, quite bad.”

He added, “You have New Orleans, which has a crime problem. We’ll straighten that out in two weeks, easier than D.C.”

Trump sent federalized troops into Los Angeles in early June, which a federal judge ruled this week was an illegal move. In a 52-page decision, Senior District Judge Charles Breyer barred the administration from deploying troops to engage in civilian law enforcement. Some 300 troops remain in L.A. and will be restricted in what they can do following Breyer’s ruling. The Department of Justice is appealing the decision.

I'm in DC all the time: I have grandkids in Silver Spring. I have never felt the slightest concern for my safety or that of my family, though admittedly I don't visit all the neighborhoods. When I see troops near the Mall or in Georgetown I can only think, what a colossal waste of manpower.

I haven't been in New Orleans in several year, but I definitely have higher caution there.

But whatever the city, I cannot fathom that, barring a natural disaster, federal troops or federalized guards have any place supplanting or augmenting local police. I don't think the Founders contemplated a national role in intrastate crime.

If local police need greater funding from Washington, let Congress provide it. The actions taken in recent weeks are cosmetic: whatever benefits they have are only temporary unless the federal government permanently occupies city streets throughout the country, a commitment which would be enormously expensive and would divert troops from the primary military objectives for which they serve. And if the assignments are only temporary, so too will the benefits be.

How is it the news hasn’t figured out yet that PDJT is sending help to cities and not states?

The Dems are hoping like hell that at least one of the deployments of the National Guard isn’t as successful, so they can have something to run on in ‘26 & ‘28 . . .

I haven’t been to NOLA in a couple of years. My experience there was that I felt pretty comfortable in the French Quarter, the Convention Center area, and up in the Garden District.

Anywhere else, we probably did not wander into. Nor would we be out late at night. And certainly, not late at night and drunk.

I imagine a lot of tourist incidents happen as a result of alcohol consumption.

I go for the music and food. I can get all of that can be done sober and in the evening.

NO!

It's up to the CITIES to provide the funding and stop hamstringing the police and not letting them do their jobs.

Your *solution* just entails MORE federal involvement, not less.

Get rid of the stupid, criminal coddling, corrupt *justice* system, leftist liberals in office and things should change. There are plenty of laws on the books. They need to be enforced.

They know. They are not news orgs, they are propaganda tools. They send out DNC narrative not news.

Perhaps Trump feels that cleaning up another city that asks for it will help sell the idea of cleanup or we show up and clean it for you.
Something like that...

Imagine people raving in New Orleans about how nice it is now that the bad people have been taken away.

Imagine more states turning blue because they witness this take place also in other cities.

Law and order.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and quicker to just flatten these cities? They don’t represent civilization. They harbor and advance predation and de-civilization.

Many years ago, the Hyatt Hotel that was located by the SuperDome used to have a “couples weekend special”: low rate, Sunday brunch, etc. A couple could take advantage of that and have a pretty nice weekend for a fairly reasonable expense. We took advantage of it several times back in the day.
Back then, a couple could casually walk from the Hyatt, on down Canal Street to Bourbon Street, go to the RiverWalk, etc. and walk back, even after dark, and never have any kind of issue.
Today? To do the exact same thing, even in broad daylight, one would likely need a full-blown, battled-hardened, USMC rifle squad to protect ya from from being killed...
We no longer go there for any reason and haven’t in a long time.... Kinda sad as it used to be a good time.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you - but I want to point out, these places, particularly cities like Chicago, New York, New Orleans, were "federalized" many decades ago

They exist at every level on Federal money and debt. Much of their populations live on the Federal welfare and benefits plantation. For that they dance to every Federal regulation and political initiative and have for many years. their infrastructure funding is also political in nature and paid for usually by Federal Government. Their leftists in charge fully support the woke DC deep-state

They are already "federalized."

So now Trump is sending some Federal police and national guards to fix more of their problems. In the grand scope of things, its a minor thing.

Its just part of a long continuum of centralization in the USA

The color of a state matters only to commie trash like Newscum.

Exception might be RIsland = no bigger than some cities.

Just shows how the fake news manipulates the truth to illustrate their narrative. The truth is New Orleans has been run by the RATS for years.’

I don't think the Founders contemplated a national role in intrastate crime.

So when Democrats refuse to uphold or enforce the laws, as when black students were blocked from attending "white" public schools, the National Guard wasn't used appropriately there?

The problem arises with those in power refuse to protect the rights and safety of American citizens in those locations. These "blue" cities openly state that they refuse to enforce the laws ("sanctuary cities" etc), and so the Chief Executive can step up and do what is needed to protect the American people when their elected officials refuse to do so. Pretty easy to understand.

Much of what Trump is doing is what Trump does best which is trolling.

He is winning on the issue and he knows it.

This is a headline on DM's website,

Trump silences sneering liberals with highest EVER approval rating as he cracks down on crime
