Almost everybody would agree that the first South Park episode of the current season slammed President Donald Trump. However, that was not enough for Vanity Fair's Hollywood Correspondent, David Canfield. Displaying steroid levels of insecurity, he just has to know if the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are really really anti-Trump.
You can see Canfield's desperate insecurity in his story on Wednesday, "South Park Has Been Pissing Viewers Off for Decades. Then It Came for Trump," which led off with this subtitle: "The show has a history of controversy and provocation—but it’s still virtually impossible to know where Trey Parker and Matt Stone really stand."
That was the first clue that Canfield just had to find out for sure if Parker and Stone were as satisfyingly anti-Trump as himself. Therefore he leaps into a highly neurotic microanalysis of just what are the politics of the show's creators.

Or else what? Parker and Stone don’t care who they piss off. That’s kind of the point of parody. They’re social commentators. That’s what they do. That the liberals respond in this way tells me that they have zero sense of humor. Give yourself over to us completely, or you’re not a true believer. Unreal.
They are shills for Paramount, who just gave them a big payday.
That episode was really offensive so I turned it off.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone hate both conservatives and liberals. This writer has nothing to fear: they will continue skewering Trump, Catholic priests and other public figures.
South Park never really recovered from losing Chef and the introduction of PC Principal. Them trying to turn Garrison into a Trump wannabe in 2016 sealed it from being funny ever again. I’ve tried to watch but never laugh. I give up.
They took on Charlie Kirk but he just stepped into it, loves it, and poof, there goes all the wind out of their sails.
What if they gave a South Park and no one was offended?
I’m guessing no more than three out of 10 people are still paying any attention to what South Park does or does not portray. This show, just like SNL still considers itself to be the eye in the storm of trending topics.
Says more about Vanity Fair.
South Park is just offensive. The two creators have had nothing to offer society - except offensive juvenile humor.
‘Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public’
I sort of tapered off watching South Park over the last few seasons. Right now I have a couple of episodes recorded that I might or might not eventually watch. The show just isn’t all that funny now, and their political satire was always pretty lame no matter who was the target.
There is also possibility the last two episodes were over the top parodies of lefty paranoia even while doing Trump no favors.
It's not enough to dislike Trump. To be a true Democrat you must be an hysterical ninny about it.
Oh wait. No, I didn't. That was funny as hell.
Just a cartoon Saturday Night Live failure. What may have been funny at one time has just turned into Demonrat poo.
Not sure what you’ve been reading, but they’ve been very vocal with the disdain for Paramount as of late.
Well, this is interesting...

If you want to know why South Park never took swings at Joe Biden the same way they’ve been doing to President Trump, the show’s lawyer also just so happens to be the guy who funded Hunter Biden’s legal defenses.

Yes. Hunter’s patron has been the South Park attorney since Day One of South Park.
