Fookin’ idjits. I love this state. The government, not so much. And the wind blows so much here, that OK and TX have to worry more about pollution from NM than NM does.

Like Colorado, New Mexico is dominated by Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Southern and eastern NM are extensions of West Texas. Lea County is an extension of the Permian Basin and it was carried by Trump by a 4:1 margin. The adjacent counties are almost as strongly Republican. Keep in mind that these counties have a Hispanic majority or at least a large minority. Even as Hispanic voters are beginning to move rightward, non-NM natives moving to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, etc., are affecting state politics, locking in Democratic control.
