A new Dunkin' Donuts ad has people on social media in a furor over "genetics" for the second time this week.

The breakfast food franchise released a short spot for its new summer Refresher drinks on Tuesday featuring "The Summer I Turned Pretty" star Gavin Casalegno. During the 35-second ad, the actor credited his summer tan to his "genetics."

"Why are ads so obsessed with genetics all of a sudden," one user commented on the ad on TikTok, getting nearly 28,000 likes for the post.

In the ad, Casalegno sat near a swimming pool holding his Dunkin' Golden Hour Refresher beverage while he referenced his pop culture status as the "king of summer" along with his tan.

"Look, I didn’t ask to be the king of summer. It just kind of happened," he said. "This tan? Genetics. I just got my color analysis back. Guess what? Golden Summer. Literally.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

The Sydney Sweeney ad centers around the pun "has good Jeans"

The "genetics" mention in the Dunkin one is forced and inorganic.

Never cared for either of the above brands and still don't.

And as Michael Knowles pointed out, it's real rich for the Left to suddenly care about "Eugenics" given it was the FOUNDING ideology of PLANNED PARENTHOOD...and continues to be justification used for thousands of elective abortions of unborn babies with chromosomal issues and the like, as well as the discarding of IVF embryos...

"Holy crap! A white male allowed to advertise."

I live in Sicily. I haven't been back to the US in about six years and I didn't watch much TV when I was there. In Sicily, I watch several shows on Discovery Channel via a VPN which makes it look like I'm in the 'States, therefore I get the American ads.

Because of American ads if I didn't know better I'd think that the population of the US was at least 50% Black, 40% various dark-skinned and Asian ethnic groups and perhaps 10% White. I'd also think that almost all White men were stupid, flaccid beta boys and clowns, that women were smart, strong and accomplished, that Blacks were well-dressed, relatively affluent and spoke excellent English, that Black men scored most of the White women but White men scored no Black gals, that fat Black women were sexy and that White women craved Black and Brown men far and above their lust for White guys. All of it a big, fat lie.

Then, of course, I'd also learn that if you can't step up and take responsibility for the amount of food you eat and are therefore obese, you just pop an expensive pill and Bingo! - goodbye weight! And naturally, if you're feeling bad or going through one of life's inevitable rough patches, you gobble pills instead of stepping up and getting your sh*t straightened out. Ugh.

Does the ad come across as “gay”?

"This tan? Genetics."

In other words, he has a natural suntan.

Many people tend to burn in the sun. (A sunburn turns into a suntan, but some people never sunburn.)

I'm not offended that this person and other people tan without burning.

Not at all. Definitely has a rich kid vibe to it. Man, I’m so happy to see the beautiful people coming back!!! Used to be one could say, “She could be on television,” and folks would know immediately that meant she was pretty. Not so much anymore. Any heifer with a heart beat can get a national spot.

Two ads, and one is a lame play on words. Nobody would ever have noticed if all those nitwits hadn't tried to make a big deal out of it.

Agreed. Two out of thousands is not a trend. What it is is an obsession of the left to focus on those two ads.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head with your ads comment. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see straight normal white people occasionally show up in an ad.

I think the left’s hissy fit with Sweeney is she’s showing off her sex appeal. Good advertising did that a lot decades ago with great success.

And this Dunkin’ guy and Sweeney are physically fit. I’m so sick of fat obese people. I’m quite happy with Trump trying to get the nation physically fit again. JFK had similar ideas.

Because the modern ads suck big time, we prefer to pay for our streamed TV that has no ads.

True, Thomas Sowell has pointed this out starting 50+ years ago regarding college recruiting material. The fact that 80% (or more) of the blacks in those photos washed out before completing their second year (in the days before grade inflation) never seemed to bother the colleges.

In the US about the only ads left in the US that still predominantly use Whites without bashing them are from housing developers, as even blacks prefer to live in White neighborhoods.

Remember Brooke Shields and her jeans?
Cindy Crawford and her Pepsi?
And many other advertisements with beautiful women in them.
No one cried about those.
