The Shroud of Turin was not laid on Jesus' body, scientists reveal

For centuries, devout Christians have flocked to the Italian city of Turin to pay their respects to one of the most famous relics in the world.

The Shroud of Turin is a piece of linen, measuring 14ft 5in by 3ft 7in, that bears a faint image of the front and back of a man.

Many believe that this image was created when Jesus was wrapped in the venerated shroud shortly after his death on the cross 2,000 years ago.

However, according to a new study, the Shroud of Turin was never laid on Jesus' body.

Brazilian 3D designer and researcher Cicero Moraes, an expert in reconstructing historical faces, says that the shroud is nothing more than a 'masterpiece of Christian art'.

Mr Moraes used digital modelling software to examine how cloth drapes over the human body compared to a low, flat sculpture of a body.

These results, published this week in the journal Archaeometry, show that the shroud's distinctive pattern could only have been produced by a sculpture.

In his paper, Mr Moraes wrote: 'The Shroud's image is more consistent with an artistic low-relief representation than with the direct imprint of a real human body.'

New analysis shows that the images on the Shroud of Turin (centre) could only have been produced by laying the cloth over a flat sculpture (right) rather than over a human body (left)

Meh. They cannot allow any such miracles or relics to be validated in any way.

Are these the “scientists” who believe that their are more than two genders?

As we know scientists can make their results come out the way they want them to.

After hearing “follow the science” by the lunatic communist left until I was sick of hearing it, I don’t believe a single solitary thing they say, do, write, study, propose, etc anymore...well, except maybe “The Bell Curve”. IF they wanna “follow the sceince”, let em follow that...spit.

If this guy is competent and credible, the next step should be some serious discussions with the other elite researchers on the shroud for critical cross examination. That could be interesting. I’d read the book and/or watch the podcasts.

If it all stays within the court of social media and hack journalism, it will be eady to dismiss.

The evidence that changed the world is the eye witnesses and their subsequent actions and testimony, not this shroud.

Researcher A: The Shroud is genuine.
Researcher B: The Shroud is not genuine.
Researcher C: The Shroud could be genuine.

On and on it goes.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to a Daily Mail article claiming that Mohammed never existed. I suppose I’m in for a long wait.

🤔

Thanks for showing this! People are going to be people, and they are going to believe what they believe. I spent a great deal of time in Israel and Europe and saw many relics that were revered by the Church. I have to say that the Catholic Churches that are hundreds of years old across Europe and the Middle East are Magnificent and the most beautifully adorned buildings on earth. But they are buildings designed to make people feel holy by their rituals. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not.

Interesting that the Shroud can’t be reproduced with modern technology but people living fifteen hundred years ago can produce this Shroud. In the negative. Why?

Here’s a theory:

The image on the Shroud may not have formed from physical contact, but from Christ’s glorified body passing upward through the cloth in a moment of dematerialization—just as He later passed through walls. This could have left a precise, undistorted image—like a spiritual “photographic” imprint—consistent with resurrection, not decay.

It explains why the image isn’t distorted like it would be if the cloth were wrapped around a 3D body.

If this was so obvious, why didn’t someone come up with about 1,000 years ago?

And anyway, who cares what this guy thinks? Either you believe in Jesus Crist or you don’t.

Personally I believe and will continue to do so regardless of what some unbeliever may say.

This has previously been debunked. Years ago it was determined that the image could only have been made if the cloth were on a 3D model. This was to show it couldn’t have been just a painting. This is almost as bad as the “scientific consensus” regarding eggs and cholesterol.

LOL! As soon as you hit the word “scientists”, you automatically know to be highly skeptical of anything said!

It amazes me how intense people can get over this issue.

The apostle Paul said that is was a shame for men to have long hair. The Old Testament forbid priests to have hair that dangled. The Shroud has Jesus with long hair, but there had to be someone (the treacherous Judas) identify him to the Roman soldiers when they came to arrest him. Men did not wear long hair at that time in Rome. He would have stood out in a large crowd.

During his burial preparation he had about a hundred pounds of material wrapped around him that hardened into a protective cacoon. The only cloth mentioned was one that was placed over his face.
