Chose your Caribbean location with care. Seems that a lot of today’s Caribbeans don’t like tourists, especially Americans.
Sort of like what areas of Spain are going through. Advice, until you know your neighbors, postpone your moonlight walks all alone, along the sandy beaches, while listening to your music. Even the American state of Hawaii can be a little dicey for non-Hawaiians in certain areas.

It was that way 50 years ago. I knew some military dependents who lived there as teenagers. Locals beating up the haoles was a thing back then.

Hawaii and Arizona both do not care for outsiders to buy in, inflating the cost of real estate.

Bringing liberal attitudes is a major sore point.

Most ethnic Hawaiians do not much care about it though

I have noted that when you visit as a tourist you are treated one way, if you move in and become a local it is entirely a different attitude and not a neighborly one.
