Is this a scam?
Facebook ad | 7/27/25 | Flatulus Maximus

Lately my Facebook page has been flooded with these ads announcing that seniors can get concealed carry permits on-line, with no safety course, range time/competency, etc. They want to charge $95, presumably to process the application and mail you the permit. The particular ad I looked at made me suspicious, so I closed the page and searched for "KY (my state) concealed carry permit." There was n mention of any change in the laws benefiting seniors. As far as I can tell, you still have to present a certificate of completion for an approved firearms course, undergo the usual background checks, pay the sheriff and the county. This seems like an obvious scam. Has anyone tried this and succeeded?

I still, strongly advise people TO NOT USE FACEBOOK.

I told one client, “There are seriously deadly jerks out there who seek out vulnerabilities - they have an animal instinct for it - and you do not want to help them.”

I was not thinking about another problem, the vulnerability of young people, when confronted by adversity and raw hate.

Two friends of mine, 1 guy, 1 gal. Each had a teenager. Each of those kids, killed themselves - because they could not bear the troubles that they had “aboard” Facebook.

Another guy whom I knew in the area . . . same fate for his son.

100% scam.
Easy to verify.
Contact your county sheriffs office to see if getting a permit online without going in as possible

Can’t be a scam if it’s on the internets.

I’m moving and was looking at Internet providers online. Now I’m getting bombarded with ads for cheap Internet for seniors, every last one being a scam. I’ve found that every ad on Facebook that targets seniors (or veterans) are scams.

It’s possible to do this in some states that only require a background check and an online test. But, you will be walking around with an out-of-state concealed carry permit. In Texas, if you are a Texas resident and have a Texas CC permit, you only have to fill out the form 4473 when you buy a gun. It never gets called into the fed for a background check. You just pay the man and walk out with the gun. That’s one of the perks of having a CC permit in Texas. But, an out-of-state CC permit won’t work for this.

Yes it is bs.

And I don’t want to sound sarcastic because I truly am not being so, but in the online Information Age sometimes we forget the easiest and best way to get information. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call the sheriff’s office in your county and ask them.

Driving into Illinois with a scam / bogus concealed carry permit could get you thrown in The Slammer and thousands of dollars in fines and legal costs.

It’s best to get your information from the horse’s mouth
