With the federal EV incentive set to expire at the end of September, Ford is urging its dealers to prepare for a rush of buyers.
Ford warns dealers of upcoming EV rush Like most automakers, Ford is preparing for a shakeup under the Trump Administration. After the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was signed into law on July 4, the $7,500 and $4,000 tax credit for new and used EVs will no longer be available after September 30.
In a memo sent to dealers this week, Ford warned, “demand is expected to increase as the deadline approaches for eligible vehicles.”
The letter (via CarsDirect) confirmed that the EV tax credit “will no longer be available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.”
Ford blamed Trump’s new bill for the expected rush of EV buyers ahead of the incentive deadline. Although the Mustang Mach-E doesn’t qualify for the credit, since it’s built in Mexico, Ford is passing it on through a leasing loophole. While it’s still available, the F-150 Lightning does qualify for the credit when purchased or leased.
That's about twice as many as I expected :-)
Bwahaahaha...snort...bwahahahahahahah...hiccup...bwahahahahah...

Yup. Classic wishful thinking.
Ha we just hired Stanley Steamer to clean the carpets.
We owe President Trump a big "thanks" for getting this done... And Mark Twain's last book is out...
Ford will have to eat it or convert it to make batteries for real cars.😀
Someone told me they were already selling batteries to Nissan, who of course have big plants nearby in TN.
Why would people not be buying electric cars? Let us count the ways:
1. They tend to run about $10,000 more than a similar standard car. Even with a subsidy.
2. They can spontaneously ignite. Once ignited, they are very difficult to put out.
3. Per no. 2, insurance companies are raising rates on EV’s. What would be a simple fender-bender in a gas car, can be a totaled car in an EV because a little damage to the battery pack can be very costly.
4. They may be fine for tooling around town, to the store, etc. but they are a problem for cross-country travel. Charging stations are few and far between.
5. Clearly, the more people who own them, the more no.4 is a problem. See recent incident with Jennifer Granholm demonstrating “how easy it is” to travel and recharge. (Her people went ahead and blocked out a charging station from users in line, so she could arrive and charge immediately).
6. Replacement batteries tend to cost about half the price of the car.
7. Some very extensive infrastructure changes (some say impossible) are needed to make them truly functional and practical.
8. Because of the batteries, EV’s are much heavier. Tires wear out typically in 13,000 miles, not typical 40,000 for ICEs.
9. Because of 8. above, pollution in the form of soot (the tire rubber particles) is greatly increased.
10. Unlike ICEs, EVs have a much lower range in cold weather, due among other things, the heater uses battery power. A heater in an ICE vehicle uses heat generated that would otherwise be discharged.
“Mach-E sales 2024: 56,000”
Halfway through 2025. MACH-E sales 22,000, nice sales momentum Ford! My understanding is through some loophole this car only qualifies for the rebates via leases, not outright sales. Made in Mexico. F150-E sales never that great are tanking as well, only 13k sold through June.
It’s going to be a stampede I tell you!
And, they will likely keep selling trainloads more than the current competition. Tesla is years ahead of it's competitors in technology.
LOL EV rush 😃😄🤣🤣🤣😜😝🤣
Free advertising gimmick
“you are talking about $5k for $20K worth of batteries.”
Are seven year old batteries worth $20K?
What u r saying is that ev’s suck.
Cameron 2024: 5,860
Challenger: 15,136
Good point. Maybe they aren’t that much but they are worth way more than $5k. Some of the EVs I saw only had 50k miles on them so I would assume they have some years left.
Yesterday I got our F150 back from service work at a local Ford dealer. I asked the sales guy there how many electric F150’s they’ve sold. He said, none, zero. They never even got one in to sell.
About 3 years ago I was at a much larger dealership where they were forced to take on some to sell. They also sold none at all. Those they got in were shipped of to California where the demand exceeded what the dealers there could get.
There are a few hybrid Prius and Hondas running around here, but a full EV is quite rare.
Being in a fairly well-off area, we see Teslas everywhere and Cybertrucks don’t even turn heads any more. The Rivians are starting to turn up in common areas and the EVs from Ford and Hyundai..................
