With the federal EV incentive set to expire at the end of September, Ford is urging its dealers to prepare for a rush of buyers.
Ford warns dealers of upcoming EV rush Like most automakers, Ford is preparing for a shakeup under the Trump Administration. After the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was signed into law on July 4, the $7,500 and $4,000 tax credit for new and used EVs will no longer be available after September 30.
In a memo sent to dealers this week, Ford warned, “demand is expected to increase as the deadline approaches for eligible vehicles.”
The letter (via CarsDirect) confirmed that the EV tax credit “will no longer be available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.”
Ford blamed Trump’s new bill for the expected rush of EV buyers ahead of the incentive deadline. Although the Mustang Mach-E doesn’t qualify for the credit, since it’s built in Mexico, Ford is passing it on through a leasing loophole. While it’s still available, the F-150 Lightning does qualify for the credit when purchased or leased.
They are also ignorant of automotive history.
EV’s were tried before. About 100 years ago.
The main problems with the EV’s then was lacking of charging locations/capacity and limited range and fires.
Go figure.
>> He made it to Denver, drove to a Ford dealer and left it there.
Literally laughing out loud! Thanks for sharing that.
Sure....
News flash: there will be no rush. None.
THEY WISH
They may need to add event security at Ford dealerships.
Can’t see it happening - especially in a place like California where we travel long distances and having an EV is a major PIA (well, it is anyway).
Never mentioned, of course, is the electrical grid that is needed to charge these EVs up - just got another warning here in SoCal to keep electrical use to a minimum whenever possible b/c the grid is becoming overloaded, as it always does during the summer months.
It was a 3 way war; steam vs electric vs gasoline. Guess who won?
This blog called “advertising”...
I didn’t realize there was a subsidy for used EVs. When that goes away, won’t it adversely impact the resale value of all used EV? The depreciation of EV’s, already large, will become larger.
I don’t know what the supply of new ICE vehicles is, but I would think whatever demand there is would increase.
I forgot about steam powered vehicles.
I got to see a Stanley Steamer car at the Stanley hotel in Estes Park, CO. Cool car but not practical.
EVs need incentives because they’re inferior products
Steam is good but there is 30 minute delay in starting.
maybe a good time to try to dump those acres of ‘lectric Mustang toys ...
Likely not in Upstate NY.
NYSEG is asking for a 25%+ increase in electric rates.
Local news is reporting thousands of people bum rushing our local Ford dealership. Film at 11:00

There’s some ol’ boy on YouTube with a wood-fired steam-engine-equipped pickup truck... kinda cool, actually. Probably no more inconvenient than an EV!
“Ford blamed Trump’s new bill for the expected rush of EV buyers”
first time i’ve seen a Prez blamed for causing more sales of a moribund product ... oh, well, another day, another “Orange Man Bad” ... [oh, and btw, are the walls closing in yet?]
