President Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “couldn’t have been nicer” during their one-on-one meeting Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit at The Hague.
Trump said at a press conference that the two leaders did not discuss details of a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, but stressed their shared desire to end the war swiftly.
“No, no, I just — I wanted to know how he’s doing,” Trump told the reporter. “It was very nice, actually. We had a little rough times. He couldn’t have been nicer. I think he’d like to see an end to this, I do.”
“I think, what I took from the meeting — couldn’t have been nicer, actually — but I took from the meeting that he’d like to see it end. I think it’s a great time to end it.”
Trump said he’d call Russian President Vladimir Putin to try and facilitate an end to the war, which began when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
During their most recent call, Trump said Putin offered to help end the Israel-Iran conflict. “I said no, you can help me with Russia,” Trump recalled of their conversation.

Zelensky on Wednesday also gave a glowing review of what he described as a “long and substantive meeting with President Trump.”
“We covered all the truly important issues,” Zelensky said in a post on the social platform X. “I thank Mr. President, I thank the United States.”
“We discussed how to achieve a ceasefire and a real peace. We spoke about how to protect our people. We appreciate the attention and the readiness to help bring peace closer,’ he added.

I had a good meeting with @POTUS in The Hague.
I congratulated President Trump on the successful operation in the Middle East. It is important that the U.S. actions have weakened not only their nuclear program but also their drone production capabilities. We will continue to keep an eye on the situation.
We discussed the protection of our people with the President — first and foremost, the purchase of American air defense systems to shield our cities, our people, churches, and infrastructure. Ukraine is ready to buy this equipment and support American weapons manufacturers. Europe can help. We also discussed the potential for co-production of drones. We can strengthen each other.
I also informed the President about how the technical team’s meetings in Istanbul went, as well as the exchanges of prisoners and the fallen. Russia handed over the bodies of its own troops. Forensic examinations are currently being carried out in Kyiv to identify their relatives.
We talked about the situation on the battlefield. Putin is definitely not winning. I presented the President with the facts about what is really happening on the ground.
Thank you for the meeting and your support. I’m also grateful for the truly kind words about our people. We will keep working.

The one that has truly respected Trump is the one that signed the mineral deal and all the peace-initiatives Trump proposed. Zelensky and Trump are on the same page now.
Putin on the other hand is another story... Putin stabbed Trump in the back in a rather spectacular way. He REJECTED every single Trump-peace-initiatives, and violated all cease-fire attempts by bombarding exclusively civilian housing in the middle of Kiev.
No wonder Trump called Putin crazy!

Indeed, Ukraine is one of the richest countries of Europe.

As already agreed and signed by both President Trump and President Zelensky, the United States will receive valuable minerals and natural resources from Ukraine in exchange for continued military support (there will also be other payment methods).
This strategic partnership not only strengthens America’s economy but also reinforces Ukraine’s firm stance on defending its borders and sovereignty. Both Zelensky and Trump share a common principle: that national borders must be respected — not violated by illegal invaders or armed foreign forces.
