This is so incredibly sad.
According to police, on June 6, Scott Allen Gardner of Volusia County, Florida, allegedly left his 18-month-old son, Sebastian, in a hot car for three hours while he got a haircut and then drank at a bar, leading to the child's death.
It was 96 degrees outside, and when law enforcement arrived to try to save the kid's life, they were unsuccessful. The child's body temperature reportedly reached 111 degrees.
What's more, according to police, Gardner gave them several false accounts of the events leading to his son's death. He was arrested on Thursday.
The same officer who tried to revive Sebastian at the scene is the one who handcuffed Gardner in the above video.
Gardner is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect causing great bodily harm.
His bond is set at $100,000.
Well, at least his haircuts will be free from now on, unless some DNC approved DA decides to send him home with handshake and a thank you.
Death penalty. Next case!
These deaths of infants and toddlers in hot cars happen every year. It’s so sad.
I heard someone say, you should put your phone or something else you need, in the backseat, so that way you have to go in the backseat when you park the car, and then you won’t forget about the child.
So sad this keeps happening.
Agreed.
After discovering his kid dead in the back of the car, he went to his mom's house and then went back to the bar for more drinks before calling the police for help.
Guess he figured he might as well enjoy one last bender.
Florida toddler dies in hot truck while dad got haircut, drank at bar, sheriff says
Heartbreaking.
Normally I'd say that any parent who does this is going to be living in their own personal hell on earth for the rest of their lives but this guy went back to the bar.
There will be a sudden uptick in some other way because evil people will not stop murdering kids but they will have to stop using this one.
I know you are a nice person and you want to believe that it could not be deliberate. But it is.
Every single time.
No they don’t care. Where’s mom?
If he was an illegal alien he’d be walking the streets and uncharged.
It is not an accident. Intentional or not it was an action caused by the murderer, not pure happenstance.
Volusia County doesn’t have a Dem DA..
What's worse is that, that suggestion tells us that people care more about their phones than their kids.
I believe this is what happened to Kaylee Anthony, the FL toddler who was reported kidnapped. I think her mom Casey Anthony accidentally left her in the car, and upon discovery she faked the kidnapping to avoid charges. Professionals have done this before, accidentally, it’s not always criminal neglect. Read about the FL dentist in 2004. I can’t locate the best link, but a change in routine caused him to forget the child in the car. That’s why doctors and pilots have checklists or time-outs before surgery to recheck all parameters.
Yes. It is.
I do not care if your hair is on fire, you do not forget your kids.
This man did not forget the child, he willfully left him there because they were an inconvenience to his haircut and drinking.
In prison for "forgetting" the other kid in the car last year ...
How the heck does ANYBODY "forget" having a kid in the car?
