Cain and Abel, meet David and Daniel.
Ex-New York Gov. David Paterson is accusing his brother of cheating him out of his inheritance — by allegedly tricking their elderly mother into giving him over $7 million before her death.
A bombshell lawsuit filed by the former governor claims his younger brother Daniel Paterson, 67, duped mom Portia into transferring the massive sum from her estate to his account through “undue influence, coercion and excessive persuasion.”
The sneaky move allowed Daniel and his attorney wife Eloise to bypass a long-standing will ordering the brothers to split their mom’s estate 50-50 — cheating David, 71, out of some $3.5 million, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit alleges.

“Love flies out the window when money walks through the door.’’
He never saw it coming!
Black on Black crime....................
Or, as Groucho Marx said in Monkey Business: “Love flies out the door when money comes innuendo.”
If the mother is dead, the money presumably isn’t hers any more.
“If the mother is dead, the money presumably isn’t hers any more.”
It’s called an “estate”, Skippy. Look into it.

Ten bucks says that assuming his claim is justified he’ll get close to nothing from his brother.
And it presumably passes to heirs. Which is who the former guv thinks he is one or the one of.
You must have your head where your papers are at this point, Lurker.
Jacob and Esau is the more appropriate Biblical metaphor...
“And it presumably passes to heirs.”
Not presumably. It does pass to the heirs. The money belongs to the mother’s estate or trust, depending on how it was established, until it is distributed according to the instructions in the will.
New York law may be different but that’s how ours is set up. Helps keep the State’s filthy paws off it in probate court.

But the estate or trust is not the dead mother.
Mom’s lost her grip on anything of substance at this point.
I don’t remember ever hearing about him. I remember Spitzer, and Cuomo but this guy got lost in the mix.
When I clicked on the article there was a picture of Patterson and Michael Bloomberg and I remember Bloomberg and it seemed he was more prominent than this Patterson guy.
So I take it they weren’t that close?
once more, the use of “bombshell” in any media title or article s timeconsuming and boring. To make theuse of the term more convenient andmeaningful, just abbreviate it to “b. s.”; or better yet, just
“bs”
So that's how you get a 7 million dollar estate? Inquiring minds like to know how these public servants routinely accumulate millions and tens of millions.

“I want to choose a senator not from the glitzy coke parties of Manhattan, but rather from the shabbier coke regions of upstate New York,” Armisen cracked in his “Weekend Update” appearance on Saturday night.
Unfortunately the skit burned Lorne with his friends and he took it out on Armisen. Fred has hit the road this year with a solo guitar/comedy schtick that is an awkward mistake.
