President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order targeting Houston-based Susman Godfrey, a law firm that led defamation lawsuits against Fox News and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, an avid election denier. The order directs government agencies to terminate contracts with the law firm that “engages in activities detrimental to critical American interests.” It also suspends Susman Godfrey employees from receiving security clearances to government buildings and directs agencies to refrain from hiring employees of the firm.
“Susman spearheads efforts to weaponize the American legal system and degrade the quality of American elections,” according to the order. “Susman also funds groups that engage in dangerous efforts to undermine the effectiveness of the United States military through the injection of political and radical ideology, and it supports efforts to discriminate on the basis of race.”
Susman Godfrey in 2021 represented Dominion Voting Systems in filing a defamation lawsuit against Fox News, which attorneys argued falsely published theories about the company’s voting machines and a rigged 2020 election. The news giant agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787 million in a settlement. Lindell was also at the center of a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit led by the firm for falsely accusing the voting systems company of rigging the election.
In the Wednesday executive order, Trump said that he determined action was necessary to address the company’s “significant risks, egregious conduct and conflicts of interest.” “Those who engage in blatant discrimination and other activities inconsistent with the interests of the United States should not have access to our Nation’s secrets nor be deemed responsible stewards of any Federal funds,” according to the order.
In a statement to Houston Public Media, the law firm called the order unconstitutional. "Anyone who knows Susman Godfrey knows we believe in the rule of law, and we take seriously our duty to uphold it,” according to the statement. “This principle guides us now. There is no question that we will fight this unconstitutional order."

I looked in my pocket Constitution book. I couldn’t find anything in there that every attorney has a right to be given government business. And I also didn’t see any clauses in their involving Susman Godfrey either.
I can look again, but I didn’t see anything.
The slander lawsuits are ridiculous. What are the damages? Did any jurisdiction remove the machines based on claims made by people or news organizations? There was no real discovery allowed. Depending on the machine type, experts have shown some of them can be hacked and tinkered with and reprogrammed. They can display candidate A and print you a receipt that says candidate A but the database will record candidate B. No way to prove it either way. It can be programmed to auto populate ballots for people who didn’t show up. So much nonsense. Imo the burden of proof is on these companies to show Americans they are 100% secure and 100% monitored and transparent. And frankly as far as tech goes they are outmoded. Blockchain would be more secure. As would old fashioned hand counts. There is no reason California and Arizona requires 8 weeks if these machines are so great. It’s all gaslighting as far as I’m concerned.
