So last week, the word was out that Netflix is playing host to a reboot of “The Chronicles of Narnia.” On top of that, talks are apparently in the works to have none other than Meryl Streep voice Aslan. Yes, they are coming for Narnia in the same way they came for “Star Wars” and “The Lord of the Rings.” A galaxy far, far, away is not safe, nor is Middle Earth; why should Narnia be sacrosanct?
Deadline reports:
In the novels, Aslan is a talking lion who serves as Narnia’s guardian and a guide for the human children. Generally portrayed as a male, Aslan was created as an allegory for Jesus by author C.S. Lewis.
However, in “The Chronicles of Narnia,” Aslan is not merely an allegory for Christ. Lewis was quite clear that Aslan was Christ as he would have manifested himself to the inhabitants of Narnia. The biblical parallels are unavoidable with a respectful and thoughtful reading of the books, as they were meant to be.
To wit: in “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” we have this quote, “I am [in your world].’ said Aslan. ‘But there, I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.”

stupid waste of money
God is breaking these freaks
It’s simple. We need to produce the oryhodox version of the same move, The Magician’s Nephew, and have it come out at the same time.
Here we go, again!
What did they expect from the director of Barbie, where everything and everybody was spray painted pepto bismal pink.
She is part of a movement.

DOA
Netflix should look over at Disney and see how this is working out for them.
No we don’t, we just need to read the original and ignore the “adaptations”.
Even Deadline’s report is flat-out wrong. Aslan is not “generally portrayed as male.” Aslan is given male pronouns in the book, a male personality, a male role, and a mane which is much beloved by the characters in the book. Making Aslan female means making him a queen instead of a king, and more strangely, making him a lioness instead of a lion.
Whether or not a lioness does much of the hunting for the tribe, there’s no mistaking that the lion defines the tribe and does so by combat. To portray him as a lioness is to deprive him of his signature feature; it would be as nonsensical as making McDonald’s Mayor McCheese into a personified baloney sandwich and as confusing as naming him the Burger’s King.
Now that’s funny.
Well, well, here comes one more Snow White debacle compliments of Netflix this time. The left wing assholes never learn.
After all the many billions of dollars lost to this crap, why do they persist?
This is a two-fer for her. She can tell herself she's still and actress while also telling herself she's an activist.
Meryl Streep paired with C.S. Lewis.
What could go wrong other than the obvious borderline blasphemy?
Male lions have distinctive manes while female lions don’t. This is one reason why Aslan is considered a male lion.
Also the books implied that Aslan is also known as Jesus Christ, a male, in other worlds. Jesus Christ is a male. Netflix is blowing this.
Nope. I refuse to watch any Narnia show with Aslan being voiced by a woman. Aslan is an allegory for Jesus, who was *NOT* a woman.
