I would not blame today's Southerners for what happened in the 1860s and decades before or after, any more than I'd blame Southerners of the 1860s for whatever social pathologies we must endure today.
Any such inter-generational blame-shaming is only a short hop from demanding reparations, and that is pure insanity.
