LINK: If Regular Cars were like EVs... (MGUY from Australia)
IMHO the EV fad/trend is waning.
In the US, things tend to become fads/trends and everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon.
Politicians wanting to grandstand always take action in the face of some threat (even if imagined like climate change). They want to capitalize on these nonsense issues as well.
Things get massively blown out of proportion, example: Covid. Or as with EV’s you get a bunch of emotional feel good arguments on one hand and ignoring of the downsides on the other, pretending as if this is following the science.
The EV (((ONLY))) makes sense if we as a nation greatly switch to nuclear power for electricity production. At that point, because you have no H2SO4, HNO3, soot, CO2 or massive sludge production, little mining and logistics required in the power production, there is no doubt that the EV is cleaner.
(((BUT))) the reality is that the EV today is basically a coal and natural gas powered car.
The pollution, often even greater than with the internal combustion engine in net (especially when considering the battery etc), is simply displaced.
People are stupid, and because they see no exhaust pipe, they come up with idiotic terms like zero emission vehicle.
