Meet the Man Whose Philosophy Has Influenced Peter Thiel and the Technocrats
By gaining a deeper understanding of the philosophy behind Peter Thiel, we can learn where the second Trump administration is headed.
As it becomes clear the acolytes of Technocrat and faux-libertarian Peter Thiel will wield power in the second Trump administration, it is increasingly important to understand some of the influences behind Thiel and his fellow Technocrats.
One of the largest influences on Thiel’s thinking is a man named Curtis Yarvin, sometimes known by his pen name Mencius Moldbug. Yarvin and fellow philosopher Nick Land founded the school of thought known as the Dark Enlightenment, or the Neo-Reactionary movement.
A Brief History of Curtis Yarvin’s Ideas
From 2007 to 2014, Yarvin outlined his views of Dark Enlightenment on his blog Unqualified Reservations. Specifically, Yarvin has argued that American Democracy has failed and should be replaced by a monarchy with similarities to corporate governance structures. He has called for a “national CEO, [or] what’s called a dictator.”
In 2017, BuzzFeed News published an email exchange between Yarvin and Milo Yiannopoulis. In these emails, Yarvin describes watching the results of the 2016 Presidential election with Peter Thiel. “He’s fully enlightened,” Yarvin told Yiannopoulis. “Just plays it very carefully.”
Thiel’s venture capital fund, the Founders Fund, also invested in Yarvin’s company Tlön Corp in 2013.
I first became aware of Yarvin and his ideas in 2016 when I noticed what was then known as the “Alt-Right” infiltrating American libertarian circles. In my 2017 essay, Removing the Alt-Right Infection on the American Libertarian Movement, I detailed what I saw as a pipeline from the the libertarian movement to the alt-right as self-professed libertarians, voluntaryists, and anarchists joined the burgeoning Trump movement.
I try to be objective and consider all political perspectives, whether I agree with them or not.
Per the article:
“At the time, I noted that Yarvin had been linked to the Trump campaign through Steve Bannon, former chief strategist of Trump’s first administration. Bannon was once influenced by Yarvin but has since soured on him, as well as that of Thiel and Musk.
Bannon recently appeared on The New York Times podcast calling out the tech barons for promoting “technofeudalism” and transhumanism.”
The absolute open border free-marketer libertarian is really an anarcho-communist. They abuse freedom until it is unrecognizable to make the argument for government regulation.
Also
“While appearing on the conservative podcast Jack Murphy Live in September 2021, Vance, then a candidate for the Senate in Ohio, called for Trump to return to the White House and “seize the institutions of the left,” fire “every single midlevel bureaucrat” in the US government, “replace them with our people,” and ignore the courts if they try to stop him. Essentially, a counter-revolution by “counter-elites”.”

We sure are living in very interesting times.
Well good morning Brave New World... Oh, and there are even more connections as you know. Uncomfortable but it needs to be understood. Thank you.
“Technocrats Spark Global War Over Crypto Supremacy”
Good too. Thank you. Yep, we will all be part of the Internet of Things. The Global Matrix. AI will be our task masters.
Ever since Trump got elected and he has been aligned with all these tech bros, I’ve been worried that this is where everything is headed. The dismantling of the government doesn’t appear to be for the good of the people, but for the good of those who will soon privatize it, and place us all under corporate rule.
And it’s not like I think the left is any better. I look to my left and I see communism. And now, as I look at who is in power, and his associations, I’m beginning to fear fascism. Mussolini made sure the trains ran on time.
I’ve been a huge Trump support, I voted for him 6 times (3 primaries, and 3 general elections), and now I’m beginning to regret my vote. But looking back, I can’t see a better alternative, so I don’t beat myself up too much. But all this talk of crypto, talk of privatization, association with Thiel, Vance, Yarvin, and Musk, well it’s beginning to really scare me.
Looking back on Trump’s campaign and his talk of “freedom cities” is also quite scary, especially where he talks about cities free of government regulation. Well If government isn’t involved, who is? Oh that’s right, cities run by some private equity firm that sets the laws and controls the people.
I too read other perspectives, and this time, I think they may be onto something, and it’s quite terrifying to think about it.
Peter is gay so I can’t take anything he says seriously.
What utter drivel. President Trump is not trying to “dismantle the government” or become a “dictator.” Anyone who wants to think some dude who is locked into technololgy is controlling Trump or Thiel or Vance is a loony tune. President Trump is trying to drain the swamp of all the parasites, get back to a nimble limited government that the founders envisioned, and return power to the people. Period.
Oh and have fiscal responsibility and quit being suckers for the world.
How can anyone sour on Musk? The guy is leap years ahead of anyone else and works harder than anyone else. He alone is responsible for our space program.
President Trump is doing what we elected him to do.
I hope you’re right. But Trump’s association with crypto, the tech bros, and his talk about “freedom cities” basically being run by corporations is not comforting to me. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see and hope for the best as there is not much I or anyone else can do about it.
In the olden days they were called "plantations". Imagine a city run by Bank of America or Blackrock.
They found a Boogey Man and they’ll ride him for a couple of news cycles as they continue to implode.
Where is B-Chan?
Horrible ideas. That Team Trump is so influenced by him is disconcerting.
Musk is Mr. Technofascist New World Order.
What he is doing now in the guv may be good, but the ultimate end he is working for is problematic.
Musk is not a politician and really doesn’t give a hoot about the NWO. He does care about the USA.
