Hunters have to rely on local guides to know the laws on restricted areas.
Makes me wonder if it was all a set-up.
Makes me wonder how this is big news :)
In central and eastern Asia, populations are steady or rising, but in Europe they are generally in decline. Altogether, the birds have a wide range and large total population, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed their conservation status as being of least concern.
The top leadership of my company went for a hunt out west years ago using a guide service that took care of licenses, lodging, guides, etc. Unfortunately they were shady, the feds came down on all the customers fining them 10’s of thousands. Some fought it, the CEO was smart and just paid the fine, the rest lost their cases, increased fines, and other restrictions.
It was a private preserve with thousands of ducks flying......I can't imagine what a hunt with lodging and meals would cost there.
