I’m a retired urban high school teacher. As Seruzawa noted in post #2, much of the bullying problem is due to lazy and cowardly administrators. In my entire career I worked with only one administrator who always took bullying seriously. That was it. Just one.
All the rest were careerists. Don’t call the police. Don’t suspend anyone. Can’t make the school district look bad.
Defensive violence at one time was the answer. But no longer. A kid who stands up to a bully WILL be jumped by a gang after school - while walking home or riding on a bus. That’s been my city experience, anyway.
So what is the answer? Parents need to document the problem. Send emails. Then file a massive lawsuit. That’s the only thing that will work.
Oh, and get your kid into a charter school if you can.
The solution. GET YOUR KID THE HELL OUT OF THAT SCHOOL.
F YOUR JOB. YOU ARE CHOSING WORKING OVER YOUR KIDS LIFE.
YATA! IF YOU DO THAT.
