President Trump Halts Funding to South Africa over Farmland Seizures

On Sunday, President Donald Trump announced that he would halt all funding to the country of South Africa as long as the nation continues seizing the farmlands owned by white residents.

As The Epoch Times reports, South Africa recently passed a widely criticized law on expropriation, allowing the government to carry out seizures of any land it chooses. Such actions overwhelmingly target white South Africaners, who still own the majority of farmland in the country, with proponents of the law claiming that these seizures will restore racial equality in the country.

The law was signed on January 23rd by President Cyril Ramaphosa, dictating that the state has the authority to “expropriate land in the public interest…subject to just and equitable compensation being paid.” Critics of the law have already vowed to challenge its legality in the court system.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump called out South African leadership for “treating certain classes of people very badly.”

“It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention,” the president continued. “A massive Human Rights violation, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won’t stand for it, we will act.”

President Trump went on to declare that all future funding to South Africa will be suspended while an investigation is carried out. In 2023, the United States sent nearly $440 million in foreign aid to South Africa.

In a statement responding to President Trump’s post, Ramaphosa said that “we look forward to engaging with the Trump administration over our land reform policy and issues of bilateral interest. We are certain that out of those engagements, we will share a better and common understanding over these matters.”

“South Africa is a constitutional democracy that is deeply rooted in the rule of law, justice and equality,” Ramaphosa added. “The South African government has not confiscated any land.”

So..Is it possible? President Ramaphosa is a liar? When the Legislative body is 1/3 ANC and 1/3 Communist Party, can
there be any negotiations with people of such sterling character?

“”In 2023, the United States sent nearly $440 million in foreign aid to South Africa.””

WHY? Where does approval come from for the US to send ANY aid to ANY country? Is that from the State Department or USAID or appropriated by Congress? Just look for a messed up country in the world and send it money? How many years did US activists and politicians get involved in SOUTH AFRICA’s affairs - demanding changes? They got it!! So we now bail out those some wanted in power?

That should have been the end of it! You’re on your own - TOUGH LOVE!

Excellent!!

Now require the return of all seized property, and compensation for damages to the White owners, before the resumption of any further US Aid.

Still, it'll take 400 years to remove that black mark on South African History.

A better move would be to change all foreign aid in to non-forgivable loans secured by hard assets. Make it a hand up instead of a hand out.

The United States went against Apartheid to get rid of racist injustice government. We spent billions to make that happen to improve the lives of everyone in South Africa and light a way for western equality. South Africa was an advanced western nation with a strong economy, great food production, a jewel of Africa.

Now, South Africa has a racist, murderous, communist-socialist government that rapes and murders white farmers and steal their land and homes. The economy has collapsed, the government is completely corrupt, and it’s unsafe to be in most cities.

That’s our Federal Government at its finest! Using our tax dollars to make a system that’s somewhat broken and making it much much worse.

Reagan supported Buthelezi, not Mandela. Would have been much better off if he was in charge.

How is this different from our concept of imminent domain?

My cousin had some land taken from him by the county to build a boat dock. They paid him, but he thought it wasn’t nearly enough for the land they took. Also, he offered to GIVE them some land on the river a few hundred yards away, but the county wanted that particular spot, and so they took it.

The Brits should have been kicked out of South Africa during The Boer War.
