It is dystopic. The only way to liberate mankind will be to bring down the entire internet (if that is even possible) and somehow endure the chaos that follows.

I have often had the same thought.

Probably be easier to turn off the sun, though.

We had no internet in 1974. The Deep State was able to force Nixon to resign.

Nixon wouldn't have been forced to resign if Watergate happened today.

Nixon would have been able to tweet to defend himself.

And we're posting on FR right now.

In 1974, we would be reading the WaPo instead. We'll be reading articles by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

One could make a GREAT movie on CBDC and the power it gives government, and also include a part where it gets hacked, or power goes down, and fully stocked stores cannot even sell to people who have cash...It could be 1984 quality.
