FLASHBACK: AP "Fact Checked" Trump on Concerns of Lack of Water in California
AP ^

Posted on 01/09/2025 11:37:20 AM PST by TigerClaws

From linked AP 2019 article:

TRUMP: “Also, open up the ridiculously closed water lanes coming down from the North. Don’t pour it out into the Pacific Ocean. Should be done immediately. California desperately needs water, and you can have it now!”

THE FACTS: Trump’s point is irrelevant to battling wildfires.

“Fire suppression is not limited in any way by the availability of water,” Westerling said. “How does President Trump propose that these waters be used to reduce fire risk? Is he proposing to build a statewide sprinkler system with federal money?”

well, replenishing ground water tables, capping reservoirs and cleaning the forests sure would have condensed this a little?
I’ll grant Topanga Canyon burns almost annually.

He also repeatedly talked to them about clearing the forest floors and getting rid of dead trees that form a torch that can reach the tree canopies

An AP “fact check” on anything is equivalent to a Kamala “fact check” on quantum entanglement.

Trump: “The sun is very far away from earth.”

Fact checker: “Laughably untrue. On a hot day, you can actually reach up and touch the sun.”

Not seeing where Trump's comments are about fighting wildfires. Lack of water for agriculture is a huge issue in California...perhaps Trump was talking about that?

President Trump predicted this exact scenario unfolding in California during Joe Rogan’s podcast and he laid out the exact reasons why.....and sure enough here we are.

But hey, the smelt fish are safe so thank God for that! /s/

Putting out fires using water doesn't work. Hmmm. So mankind has been doing it incorrectly for many thousands of years. Thank G-d the AP has finally set us straight.

A general FYI.

California and must of the west was buried in drought in that timeframe 2019. It had remained so for years and years.

Then last year or the year before there was massive rainfall and flooding. Reservoirs were refilled.

The drought . . . did not end.

The overwhelming water of the past 18 months traced back to a huge undersea volcano offshore Tonga. It pumped ginormous amounts of water vapor into the stratosphere.

Heated things. Drenched them.

This was not a return to normal. It was a departure from the new drought normal, to which things will return as the water vapor rains out.

Trump is right.

But it’s important to know they had plenty of water to have kept the fire hydrants working.

It was criminal negligence.

Their hatred of all things Trump blinds them to common sense......all they know is whatever side he is in they must be on the opposite regardless of the outcome......even if it’s obvious that he is right.

If DJT came up with a cure for cancer I swear if they had the dreaded disease many lunatic liberals would refuse to receive the treatment just because Trump was involved.

We’re supposed to be the greatest country on earth and they want to spend 120 billion on an effing train? How hard could it be to run a couple of pipes to the southwest U.S. from the trillions of gallons an hour, around the clock, being dumped into the pacific from some rivers up north?

Vast reservoir’s could be created in the open southwest, new cities, millions of jobs, homes people could actually afford, etc.

Seems like a no brainer. Maybe the same reason they’re not using desalinization plants up and down the west coast...Same with nuke plants. With our technology electricity should be dirt cheap by now. It’s all doable but the greedy very wealthy corrupt are in the way.
