s this Georgia, or Jersey?
A family of angry masons wielding baseball bats, sticks and a a lever-action rifle allegedly launched a Sopranos-style assault on a rival paving company outside Macon, Georgia when they saw the compeitor doing a job near one of their homes.
Cops collared six members of the Buckland family Dec. 19 after the bloody, broad-daylight beatdown on guys from rival EH Paving at a Monroe County job site, according to WMAZ.
“Like something out of ‘The Sopranos,’” Monroe County Sheriff Brad Freeman told the outlet.
The Buckland boys thought EH Paving was being “disrespectful” by working so close to one of the Bucklands’ houses — and they let them know in a way that would make Paulie Walnuts proud.
The Bucklands were hit with multiple criminal charges. WMAZ An argument erupted when the Bucklands confronted the EH employees, who are out of southeast Georgia, the property owner told cops.
That’s when family patriarch Mark Buckland Sr., 77, pulled a “long cowboy-style gun” and fired two rounds into the woods to intimidate the other pavers, the outlet said.
His 58-year-old son, Mark Buckland Jr., allegedly sparked a full-on brawl moments later that left the EH Paving workers bruised and banged-up.

Lots of tough guys and ex-cons in paving, sand and gravel, and trucking concrete mix. So I am not surprised. These kinds of rumbles were more common in past decades.
It’s all about profits and the other paving company stealing “your” jobs.
We have a long driveway. Pavers have come repeatedly over last 20 years, trying to get our business. They men always seemed like shady thugs.
This time, it’s NOT them, Yogi.
Really fine looking guys.
“We have a long driveway. Pavers have come repeatedly over last 20 years, trying to get our business. They men always seemed like shady thugs.”
They are exactly that, which is why I got out of the paving business years ago.
“Nice driveway ya gots, dere. Be a shame if som’thin’ was to happen to it.”
“This time, it’s NOT them, Yogi.”
Just a bunch of rednecks (Trump voters) out having some fun. Like them Duke Boys used to do. Minus the paver’s gun-play.
I was wondering if the victims might have been employing cheap foreign labor.
I wonder what model of baseball bats they were. I personally like a Hillerich & Bradsby Model R161, 35” long and weighing 34 ounces whenever I need to go after my fellow pavers.
Probably travellers
Lots of gypsies or Travelers also.
Well, the good news is that once they beat their rivals to death with the baseball bats, they can pave over them in your driveway.
‘Angry masons’
I’ve never seen one that wasn’t. They were always brawling with someone, even among themselves if no one else was available.
““Adult men with pretty good reputations.””
Good reputations but they don’t specify for what! Apparently fighting!
This wouldn’t happen in New Jersey … because the paving bids there are all rigged. :-P
We have one as well. I see WV plates and send them packing. WV gypsies are notorious for paving and roof scams.
We don’t see them up here in our neck of the woods in Maine doing paving, but a lot of them do seal coating, hauling a hot tank around and pretending that they have left over sealant from a canceled job that they can sell you at a bargain price.
A few years back pavers committed a home invasion murder in Union County, Florida. Someone had a driveway paved, and apparently, they were a bit slow in paying. A female owner drove 2 goons to the debtor’s home and dropped them off to do their deed. She then drove away and parked at a cemetery to wait awhile before going back to pick up her boys. While she was parked at the cemetery a curious sheriff’s deputy happened to drive by and stopped and chatted with her a bit then drove away. The big clue that broke open the case was something about the accidental incident involving the woman parked at the cemetery.
