I’ve people converted and become completely changed. I just don’t how that can happen. How can a person make that leap? I just don’t understand.
“I’ve people converted and become completely changed. I just don’t how that can happen.”
It’s not the person. It’s the Holy Spirit in the person that allows that to happen.
People cannot make that leap at all. Indeed, trying to save oneself, to earn one's way into God's favor and thus into heaven, is the Jews' stumbling block described by Paul.
But, as you stated, it happens anyway, because God can. God does it--He regenerates those who are willing, and they are born again.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
But God doesn't stop there. He continually renovates those He rescues, transforming them so eventually they are suited for a blissful eternity in His heaven: "...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)
It’s called Salvation or being born again. Jesus forgives all your sins and you become a new man. His sins are no more.
