The bowl games have become a joke, there’s so many of them. Add to that fact that many of the top seniors heading to the NFL draft typically don’t play for fear of injury at the advice of their agents.
There shouldn’t be a playoff. the final game is when-late Jan?
Separate the sports from the universities.
I think that Northern Illinois loss might go down in the history books as one of the least likely outcomes. But for that loss, people would be expecting an undefeated Notre Dame to take on Oregon for the national title. Northern Illinois wasn’t only not ranked; they’re not any good at all: They went 4-4 in a conference without a single good team; their other out-of-conference win was against a non-FBS team. Without that win against Notre Dame, they wouldn’t be ranked in the top 100.
“ Separate the sports from the universities.”
I once thought that most foreign athletes who came to the USA for college with sports scholarships went home with a new appreciation for the USA. In recent years, though, I’ve heard these people belittling the USA, not appreciative of what we do.
I think that we are the only country in the world that has sports associated with colleges. Everywhere else, as far as I know, sports are separate from College.
“There shouldn’t be a playoff. “
It’s just not as good, you say, to be crowned ‘champion’ by a bunch of sports writers????
My football conference is NCAA Division IIAA and has played off for the championship since WWII. Exciting games!
If the MSU Bobcats win Saturday over U of SD then they are in the finals on Jan 6th.
Much better to have WON a championship than have some left-wing sports writer ‘vote your team in.’
As a side note, there’s a senior HS quarterback from Belleville, MI, who just signed a deal for $10.5 million to play for the University of Michigan
And he’ll jump in the portal next year if some other program offers him a bigger package.
Just like the deep state controls policy, gambling interests will control sports.
You can thank the despicable NCAA for just about everything nasty in college sports. From everything to allowing penises in women’s locker rooms to bringing the west coast colleges into the Big Ten, puke.
Bowl games for the big schools has now become passé with the new playoff system but a status payoff for the smaller colleges. These these kids graduate and go on to other bigger opportunities in their lives but take their bowl game(s) for life with them. For an example for us local people the Western University Broncos or the Bowling Green Falcons, priceless!
He’s signed for 4 years so I’m sure there will be language in the contract preventing him from entering the transfer portal.
Yep, team and school loyalty. The TP and NIL have destroyed that.
For many jocks, there is no life after the bowl game. That was it.
Indiana is the best coached team in football- regardless of college or NFL.
Its the college presidents more so the NCAA, which is a sh!t organization. But when the presidents got involved in major decision making back in the early 90’s, that’s when it wall started to change.
Bama is screwed because we too poor to support the NIL down heeah. I’m trying to care a lot but failing I’m afraid. Saban is the only billionaire in Alabama, we need Elon or some rich somebodies to move in.
They need to hire a good GM- like all the other schools are doing.
Decent pro prospects on both sides of the ball-both teams. It means I’ll watch the first half at least.
Which game?? Indiana has only one or two next level prospects- but they are the best coached team in the nation
