Dozens of people were reportedly sickened by norovirus at an event unveiling the Los Angeles Times’ list of the 101 best restaurants.
The party at the Hollywood Palladium earlier this month left more than 70 people feeling ill...
...Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Wednesday advised of tainted oysters, including those under the Fanny Bay brand, which Times spokesperson Hillary Manning confirmed were served at the event.
Fanny Bay Oysters originating from British Columbia, Canada, were sourced by Santa Monica Seafood, a sponsor and the seafood vendor of the event, and provided to one of the featured restaurants to serve,” Manning told L.A. Taco in a statement.

Personally, I might get seafood I planned to eat from a source other than “Fanny Bay”...

Given the state of major metro sewer systems around this country, I suspect most are now Fanny Bay.

My lasting memory of a five-day liberty in Singapore is poisoning from the bouillabaisse soup at one of the most prestigious restaurants available. The problem was over quickly, and luckily, I had Command Duty Officer watch the next day.

Me too.
Prefer the east coast varieties, like Wellfleet oysters from Cape Cod.
