Please put your glasses on right-side-up. The man the bear fell on was NOT the man who shot the bear.
Thank You, Gundog. I Man-Splained it in Post #79. ;)
Just had Bear Pepper Steak for supper last night. Made a tasty, TASTY Bear and Broccoli Teriyaki Stir-Fry earlier this week. Good Eatin’! :)
So who thinks that they should get both the bear and old what’s his name mounted.
I always heard bears can have lots of parasites and such. Not sure if that’s true. We are just now starting to see bears back in these parts of Alabama. Definitely no hunting for them Black Bears are protected here.
Thank you, HT. I like Mairde and she likes me and she is more than welcome to her opinion. :)
I ‘splained the two types of bear hunting in Post #79.
Our life kinda revolves around who goes FIRST each season in Wisconsin - Dog Hunters or Bait Sitters alternate each year so as to further confuse the bears, or to NOT shoot one another...or something, LOL! ;)
Our club culled 8 this season; 5 of which were youth hunters that Beau is bringing up in the sport. Not a record year by any means, but that leaves behind some bears to grow bigger for NEXT season. ;)
The guy didn’t see the bear coming? I bet his dog saw the bear coming…
He is revered as a god in this Yankee household!
Beau played football in HS in Alabama before moving back to Wisconsin. ;)
I think that’s unfair to say that to Mairdie. Some of us like to hunt, but some do not.
Hunting to get rid of a dangerous bear or to put food on the table or to keep your garden from being destroyed is generally believed to be a good thing. Of course, a hungry bear with cubs can destroy your apple trees and endanger your dog that is trying to protect you and your family. And shooting that copper head or rabid raccoon will protect your family. Shooting a treed bear - that’s pretty lame.
It’s all a matter of trade-offs but it’s not a matter of intellect. Mairdie is a long time Freeper who is very smart.
He may have been “rushed” to the first hospital, but I’m guessing he was “hauled” to the second. By the time the first was done with him, the rush thing is pretty much over.
What was the bear doing in your P.J’s?
😉
The numbskull is you.
Will someone translate that headline into English?
Bear are related to Pigs. So, unless you fail to cook the meat properly, I GUESS you could have some problems?
I’ve never heard of a parasite problem with bear meat. And I have eaten a LOT of bear meet through the years. Lots. I mean LOTS. I use it in any lean beef or pork loin recipe.
It’s very lean. There is no marbling of fat IN the meat itself; bear carry all of their FAT on top of their muscle (meat) as do I. :)
Maybe I’m a bear and I don’t know it? ;)
Lol!
I was going to, but you beat me to it :)
Wildlife popoulations have to be controlled, and bears have no natural predators.
The Department of Conservation doesn’t just let peope kill as many bears as they want. They compute how many bears there are and how many the habitat can support, and regulate hunting seasons/harvests accordingly.
Same thing with deer. When deer get overpopulated they are susceptible to diseases like chronic wasting disease that can wipe out entire herds.
Hunters were the original conservationists, and hunters supply the lion’s share of wildlife conservation funding.
Mairdie pays people to kill cattle/pigs/chickens when she buys meat at the grocery store, and that’s way less of a “fair fight” than shooting a bear in a tree out in the wild where it lived free until the very end.
The only way bears and pigs are related is that they are both mammals.
Ursidae (Bear) Suidae (Pig) I got my Pig Latin mixed up!
The meat is very similar for cooking purposes.
Bkmk
Hunters hunting bears!
