Choose wisely, fellas!
Attorney General or within your precious club...every day!
Hahahahahaha! The fabled “4-D Chess”!!!!
Sounds like a win either way.
If he got appointed to the senate, I could see Thune going after him the way McCarthy went after him.
Would Desantis appoint him?
Does he get to hold the seat for 2 years, or will there be a Special Election prior?
Diabolical! I love it.
Plan B is a recess appointment
Plan C is to have JD run the Senate every day as President of the Senate (which is defined in the Constitution, unlike “Majority Leader”) until they knock off the crap.
Trump has this.
Rubio would lose the Senate seat the next time it is up.
Oops, me bad. Gaetz would lose the Senate seat. Desantis needs to appoint someone who can win statewide. That ain’t Gaetz.
DeSantis may have already filled that seat by then.
Yes!!!
yeah Gaetz would lose the senate seat and Laura Trump is raising her hand and would be a better candidate
Rubio’s seat would be up for election in 2028.
“Does he get to hold the seat for 2 years, or will there be a Special Election prior?”
I don’t know the laws of Florida. But could be both. Appointment until special election, which could be earlier.
Governor Crist appointed Lemieux, who served for two years. He was Rubio’s predecessor after Mel Martinez resigned.
“Rubio’s seat would be up for election in 2028.”
There would be a special election to fill out the term, likely on election day, 2026, or earlier.
Who got the last laugh between Gaetz & McCarthy?
I don’t think Gaetz can win statewide, whenever the election is held.
NEW: Reporter asks Rep. Thomas Massie about Trump's nomination of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General.
Reporter: Will he be confirmed by the Senate?
Massie: "Doesn't need to... we recess. He’s the Attorney General. Suck it up."pic.twitter.com/C9djSuw2D6— Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) November 13, 2024
Gaetz as a Senator. Lovely mayhem.
“Rubio would lose the Senate seat the next time it is up.”
