On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence; that request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that some day he would return to her.

With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his friend, Oscar Madison. Several years earlier, Madison's wife had thrown HIM out, requesting that HE never return. Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy?

My whole family loved that show, starting with the light jazz theme song. You knew you were going to have a couple of laughs. I learned to ignore the canned laughter. All of the filmed Sit-Coms used it back then.

“... without driving each other crazy?”

No. That last part was a deal breaker that made the play/movie/show.

Smooth transition from Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in the movie to Jack Klugman and Tony Randall in the series.

I don't know if I've ever seen a character match like that.

During the run, in one of those Sunday paper “ask them yourself” columns (I think that was the name of it), a fan asked Tony Randall if he was as fastidious as his character on “The Odd Couple”. His reply was to the point — “No, I am an actor.” :^)

The movie version of the play is a lot of fun as well, Matthau and Lemon play Oscar and Felix.
