The only worthwhile thing about that absurd cartoon movie was Christopher Walz, and he played the heavy.

Well, I’ll say this, after this one set in WWII, the last two were unwatchable and sick.

The Civil War one and the Western were gross, disgusting, unwatchable and painted White people in the worst light possible.

I suspect Tarantino suffers from White guilt, and if so he should get help with that.

My dad’s first assignment was as a radioman, going behind the lines with a small patrol to scout the German positions. He had to call in every 15 minutes. If you didn’t call in it was assumed you were captured or dead.

I didn’t see either. Did see the one about the antebellum South, which was funny, with the hoods that nobody could see through and all.

My paternal grandfather(1911-2002) was a radioman in the US Army from 1943-1945. He was in Europe and was headed to the Pacific before we dropped the bombs on Japan.

I asked him once about WW2 and his response was “People had to keep their lights off on the West Coast.”

I never broached the subject again, but did enjoy the German ammo box, card deck and maps he gave me from his campaign through France & Germany.(Too bad somebody else got the German army helmet & bayonet.)

Great stuff, Banks! The guys were told they couldn't bring back souvenirs but word got out they weren't checking anything, so it was open season. Dad got back with a Luger (disarmed a local police chief), an SS dagger, his tank helmet and battle maps. He said near the end they were lining up rifles by the hundreds and driving the tank over them. I was lucky, he wrote a 50-age memoir of his experiences, though a war buddy of his told me he left out the worst stuff, like Ebensee.

He said they were walking down a road in country one evening and a German patrol doing the same thing walked out of the woods. The two groups froze, looked at each other and the German officer waved his man back into the trees while Dad’s patrol turned back. Neither patrol wanted action.

That sounded like a good way to handle it, have peace for just a little bit. I can’t imagine the PTSD after all those experiences.
