Studies pinpoint immune cells and proteins linked to long COVID

Researchers have pinpointed two proteins that could serve as markers for identifying patients with long COVID.

Elahi and his team discovered that the long COVID group had higher levels of immune cells called neutrophils and monocytes that cause inflammation, and fewer protective lymphocytes.

In the blood of the long COVID patients, the team also found higher levels of various proteins related to systemic inflammation—especially galectin-9 and artemin.

Higher levels of galectin-9 in patients are associated with increased inflammation and brain fog. In the case of artemin, higher levels are associated with widespread pain, more severe pain and cognitive impairment.

They also found that long COVID dysregulates the production of red blood cells, which results in an abundance of immature red blood cells in the blood of these patients.

"I think that chronic inflammation in long COVID patients results in the elevation of these two proteins. At the earliest stage of disease, we know that some patients have gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea," he points out. "I think those individuals are more likely to develop long COVID."

The gastrointestinal problems result in damage to the intestinal tissues, along with gut leakiness. It means that if even small traces of microbes from the gut get into the bloodstream, it could result in chronic inflammation. The team found elevated levels of protein markers associated with gut leakiness in these patients.

That is actually good news, because these gut problems can be treated. "There are medications available that can be used for gut leakiness."

Elahi adds that his team discovered that some long COVID patients had a deficiency in two amino acids, sarcosine and serine, that have anti-inflammatory functions and neuroprotective effects. Both are available as food supplements that can be purchased.

"Some patients who have taken them have claimed signs of improvement."

Gut leakiness is similar to IBD, Crohn’s, or colitis. I have posted studies on these and improving the gut lining.

Additionally, sarcosine and serine are available in supplements at health-food stores and Amazon.

Every time I see articles like this, I think to myself: “Why is Fauci still a free man?” (And I use the word “man” very loosely.)

This is reckless, amateur research.

They still don’t know jack.

And this helps to frame a solution absolutely not at all.

From those prior studies, red cabbage juice, manganese, zinc, probiotics, psyllium, fiber, broccoli (Indole-3-carbinol), and a low sugar diet can all help restore that gut lining.

If you are already getting enough of some of the items, consider pucking up the rest, along with the two amino acids, and see if you improve.

Certainly not if the source of the inflammation isn’t addressed.

Working on that myself, and skeptical that the mods will permit me to post the results when the time comes (history being a guideline).

Sarcosine

Found in foods like eggs, legumes, nuts, and meats, as well as in toothpaste, creams, and soaps. Sarcosine can also be purchased as a dietary supplement, sometimes marketed as a brain health supplement.

Serine

Found in foods like soybeans, nuts, eggs, chickpeas, lentils, meat, and fish. The body can also synthesize serine from metabolites like glycine. Serine is also sold as a dietary supplement in capsule and powder forms.

There’s also studies linking long covid to the jab which is far more likely to be the culprit. The AHA has also updated it’s definition of heart disease which now includes all the issues the jab has caused.

Since Covid, I have been taking Zinc and B12 along with changing my coffee from having it with milk to having it with a bit of Boost. That took care of the long Covid. I believe the answer to long Covid is Magnesium and Potassium. As for gut leakage, I drink a bottle of Kambucha every week. Not sure what it does, but it seems to calm my stomach down.

“Long covid”? Really? How gullible is the American public? This crap was created by the chicoms along with the support of Fauci, et al. There is no telling what it really is, and the fact that it permanently alters some is undeniable.

Thanks for this article! Good info. I will say though that a lot of conditions cause inflammation, so they might show the same inflammatory markers no? But if someone does have them, the supplements might be just the thing- gonna research them for safety and interactions- I “think” I might have chronic fatigue, which causes inflammation too (and extreme exhaustion) so maybe those two amino acids might help hopefully

this is what i find on l-sarcosine

Might cause insomnia, irritability

Potential to exacerbate pre-existing prostate cancer, as high levels are associated with tumor aggressiveness

Those with prostate cancer or other types of cancers it seems should probably avoid

l-serine side effects don’t seem too bad:

High doses could lead to increased anxiety or restlessness.
