Have to skip to the end to get past the selfish excuses people make for not javing kids. Given that, I’m not sure they will do well as parents.

bingo, selfish is the attitude for sure. I have a daughter that doesn’t want kids which is a damned shame.

Oh, I think maybe you missed the point.

Even the most proud self-sufficient parents at one one or another experienced at least one panic attack about the thought of being a good parent or of having a child grow up to cause chaos even if they (the parents did everything correctly).

The difference is there are three types of those folks: Those that can’t get past those fears and those that use those fears for what they perceive to gain. The third is the most valuable because they are those who while they might be terrified still walk over that abyss on the very small and frail looking bridge into parenthood.

Some children are concieved in violent circumstances, some in love, some in careles sexual encounters and some as for-profit.

Some parents are bad, some are good, some truly horrific and some majestic in their ability to raise children.

When I hear of someone admitting to all the various reasons they could have used to avoid a child and then have it...?

It’s confirmation of why the LORD God created mankind in His image.

I will get off my soapbox.

There’s another benefit, though it may not arrive for decades: grandchildren. I’m seeing it now: my 4 YO granddaughter throwing her socks downstairs from the TV room, coming downstairs to retrieve them, and repeat.

She takes a few moments to cuddle with our 80 pound Rotten Shepherd, who’s lying down on the stairs. I took a couple of pictures that are priceless to me.

I don’t know why, but my granddaughter’s favorite activity is to go up and down the stairs.

Some people can’t have kids for biological reasons or never married. Probably didn’t consider that did you?
