A protester who works in the media lit himself on fire outside of the White House during an anti-Israel protest on Saturday evening, disturbing video shows.
The man, identified as photojournalist Samuel Mena Jr, can be seen screaming in pain after he set his left arm ablaze in the middle of the street as shocked police officers and bystanders rush over to help, according to one clip.
Mena holds his left arm — engulfed in flames — high in the air to show others as several people quickly douse him with water and beat out the flames with pieces of clothing.
He cries out that he is a journalist as he’s restrained by DC Metropolitan police officers, according to another clip posted by Free Beacon reporter Jessica Costescu after the fire had been extinguished.
The left sleeve of his burnt shirt appears drenched in liquid and pink, superficial burns can be seen on his bare arm.
One passerby pours his bottle of water on the wound, video shows.
“We spread the misinformation,” Mena screams at one point in the video as a crowd gathers around him.
“I’m a journalist and I said it was okay,” he yells as a woman embraces him.

Carrying the torch of liberty does NOT mean turning yourself into the flame. It doesn’t light any more understanding than when you were shouting yourself hoarse with absurd slogans, though sticking with slogans would save taxpayers your medical bills.
One really wonders at the sticky stuff that’s filling crazy brains. Anyone who pulls this sort of crud needs to be institutionalized for the remainder of their lives. At least they’re doing it to themselves and not to some poor innocent. That’s some comfort.

It kinda grabs my attention when monks do it for whatever reason and I look into the reason and it’s usually over some horrific injustice by an autocratic or communist ruling party.
I would look into why this guy burned himself and I would see that over 1200 Israelis were mercilessly killed, raped (men and women), beaten, tortured, whole families burned alive, babies murdered and there are Israelis still being tortured.
And I would think he burned himself for the wrong side.
And then I would forget all about him.
So 1200 were killed in that massacre. It was horrific.
I think 2400 of our own died at Pearl Harbor. What a nightmare and catastrophic event.
And man did we rock and roll after that.
It was all out war and NO TERMS.
Why is Israel being harassed for doing almost the same?

Israel is way past the “defense” part.
They have every right to go on the offensive against any country that has attacked them or supplied arms to their attackers.
Ironically, I was gonna say they had the right to attack anyone who financed some of these attacks but then that would include a lot of the west!!

It’s one thing to accept incineration for your beliefs. Rome used to get off on human torches as a form of execution. Now that MIGHT have affected people’s behavior if used to prevent criminal acts, except that it was used on Christians who believed that it just gave them a faster pathway to heaven. No idea if the Buddhist monks were of that belief, too.
But it’s another thing to willingly choose to play marshmallow on the chance you’d make some big change in society. To me, that’s just insanity.

I’ve been grazed with a few cigarettes (I dont smoke) and the pain was insane.
