Why should we be required to join the HOA? I cannot do anything to MY property Other than in the house interior without their permission. I own the house, pay the taxes and insurance but some faceless communist controls everything.

I practice in GA and FL and my favorite legal quote is from a GA Supreme Court ruling enforcing clauses of a contract that one party wanted to be relieved of, because they neglected to read the contract before they executed it. The majority opinion stated "Those with the ability to read have the duty to read."
