The hospice worker said when she was being admitted that she probably had about 2 weeks, (I guess they have seen it many times).

They time the opiate induced death pretty well.
Do you really believe they administer opiates to kill? The drugs kill because the necessary dosage to deal with pain finally gets to the patient.
Would you want to do without the drugs if you were in horrible pain with no prognosis of survival?
They give you enough to keep you comfortable but they dont deliberately overdose you. Hospice care is very caring.
“They time the opiate induced death pretty well.”
That’s very harsh.
I knew of a few who entered hospice on NO opiates ... no pain, so no need.
Yet, the hospice worker(s) were able to still ‘time’ their expected passing.
Yes, palliative drugs did, I’m sure, give her a nudge.
If you had a heart you would delete your post.
We did in house hospice with my FIL. He walked into the hospice bed in his bedroom on his own power. The hospice worker said he might last 2 - 3 weeks. He seemed healthy enough but had swelling in his bad legs and feet. We all were shocked. He lasted 3 weeks. I don’t think they ODed him but they did sedate him for anxiety and slow his heart down so he wouldn’t have a heart attack. He was in pain before this but they relieved his pain and he died at home so it wasn’t too bad. He might’ve lasted longer without the drugs but the pain may have tempted him to end his own life.
You make it sound like the hospice set out to kill. That is ignorant of you. My wife recently passed in hospice care. She was treated with outstanding care and consideration and by the most professional group of people I have ever encountered. They use morphine to stop suffering and mental anguish and not to kill.

I believe this is true - Hospice is essentially assisted suicide by another name. I’ve made my end of life pre-directive based upon that belief.
