The Capitola Wharf will celebrate its grand reopening on Wednesday after being rebuilt following its destruction in a winter storm last year.
"It looked very much like this, and so we're very sensitive to wanting to make sure we kept that look," said Gerry Jensen a fundraiser coordinator.
The new gate at the wharf is wider, with shorter columns and glistening mosaic artwork, made possible by an excess in community donations.
The fundraiser aimed to enhance the wharf's features.
"We were trying to raise $250,000, but we raised $425,000, and that's just because of the messaging from our group to the community," said Jensen.
The $425,000 paid for new benches, trash cans, a fish cleaning station, and a self-cleaning bathroom, which has been popular with visitors.
"I'm impressed that they got it back again. The bathrooms looked kind of crazy with these automatic doors and such," said Stephen Myers, a visitor.
The new wharf is sturdier compared to the previous one.
It is wider and stands on fiberglass, making the structure more durable and ensuring future generations can continue to stroll over the water and fish off the pier.
The grand reopening celebration will take place on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
There will be entertainment, music, food trucks and local elected officials will speak.
Parking may be tough, but if spots fill up nearby, attendees can park behind City Hall.
The city intentionally scheduled the event for the middle of the week and midday to ensure it doesn't get too large and remains accessible for those who live in the community.
Neat.

Beautiful part of the country. Full of moonbats, though.
Great! Capitola is one of our favorite coastal getaway - love the fried calamari at Zelda’s.
