spleen = size of avacado = upper left side of the abdomen above the stomach and inside the ribs
liver = size of a football = upper right side of the abdomen inside the ribs
kinda hard to mistake the two

I’ve had surgery several times, the kind of procedures where general anesthesia would be used. Each time ‘Show Time’ begins, when I’m given that first injection to put me out, I say a prayer and remind myself of how blessed my life has been, how thankful I am for having access to good doctors.
All that being said, I know each serious surgery is a big gamble I have chosen to take. There is a strong liklihood that all will turn out well like the last few times, but nothing is guaranteed.
Nothing at all.

I totally agree. I was the recipient of a new liver three years ago. GOOD GOD, how could any medical professional make that kind of mistake!
His family is going to OWN that hospital and those doctors by the time this is all over.

The absolute rage & heartbreak I would feel if that was my loved one. Dr Shaknovsky must have been drunk or high or something. I'm not a doctor, and I even know where those organs are.
I can only assume the doctor has a callous disregard for human life and subsequently has made his own life forfeit.

I thought having the surgeon verify and mark the surgical area with a marker and initials was standard practice.
heartbreaking story, esp given they considered returning to AL for the operation.
