A study suggests that cannabis, the most commonly used illicit substance worldwide, is associated with an increased occurrence of head and neck cancer.
A large, multicenter study revealed that adults with cannabis dependence, known as cannabis use disorder, are 3.5 to 5 times more likely to develop head and neck cancer than those who do not use the substance.
Head and neck cancer, the sixth most common cancer in the world, includes several cancers, including cancer of the mouth, pharynx, larynx, oropharynx (tongue and tonsils and back wall of the throat) and adjacent salivary glands.
The researchers discovered that those with cannabis use disorder had higher rates of all types of head and neck cancers. They also found that the prevalence of head and neck cancer among those with cannabis use disorder was independent of other factors, such as age, gender and ethnicity. Alcohol and tobacco use, which have been associated with head and neck cancer, also did not play a role in the findings.
Additionally, research has shown that tobacco smoke contains numerous chemicals that cause DNA damage and inflammation to the area, which, if unchecked, can lead to cancer, and they speculate that cannabis smoke may cause similar harm.
In fact, there is some evidence, Kokot theorizes, that the smoke from cannabis may even be worse than tobacco smoke.
"Cannabis smoking is typically unfiltered and involves deeper inhalation compared to tobacco," he said. "Additionally, cannabis burns at a higher temperature than tobacco, increasing the risk of cancer-causing inflammation."
To reach their conclusions, the researchers compiled 20 years of data through a health research network of 64 health care organizations that accounted for more than 90 million individuals. They tracked cancer cases from one to five years of cannabis use.

This can’t be true. FR’s liberTARdian addicts assure us it’s only weed, man.
Gee, smoking is bad for your health. Whoulda thunkit?
Pothead Nation will rally to say this is not true. Other than pro-abortion radicals, I don’t think there is another interest group out there like pro-marijuana forces to protect their fix.
Weed is the sacramental herb of the left... The likes of Soros, Walz and Newsom push it because they want a population that’s too stoned and stupid to resist the cultural Marxism that they implement
Yes, the study will be “debunked” with, well, ummm really, really heavy duty... oh, where was I?
It’s a victimless crime. 🤡
Consuming them daily is not a good idea.
I remember watching a 60 Minutes episode in the mid 70s how marijuana caused men to grow breasts.
I know a pothead who vacations exclusively in places that have legal marijuana. 😂
>> Cannabis smoking appears to increase head and neck cancers 3.5X - 5X.
Not to condone dope — can’t stand the sweet smell — generally don’t care for sweet things... (prefer cigars, scotch, and bitter women — lol), but could mass production, tainted supplies, vaxx, etc be contributing to the data that I’m assuming is sourced 2018+.
Oddly I suspect the increase in cancer, if the study is accurate, has nothing to do with the THC in marijuana. Nicotine is not a cancerous agent either. The other plant products in tobacco, the tars, are the carcinogens in tobacco not the nicotine. I would suspect it is much the same for marijuana. In pharmacy we use pure THC (that is what make you high) for cancer patients to help cope with the nausea of the chemo drugs. I know of no study that says these pure drugs increase cancer.

I agree about cigars and scotch, relative to bitter women, perhaps I can introduce you to me ex?
But, but..... hemp products are gifts to humanity!
lol
Unfiltered smoke straight into the lungs. Who’d a thunk!?
I wonder why they want the country high.
Unless we know the life time risk for head and neck cancers, 3.5 to 5 times risk is not a meaningful number.
Life time risk for colon and rectal cancer - much more common than HNC - is just 4%.
Most cases of HNC are linked exclusively to tobacco and alcohol.
