An international study has found that inadequate vitamin C status is significantly linked to increased body weight.
The results show that heavier people require a substantially higher recommended daily allowance (RDA) of the essential vitamin to maintain good health.
"Current international vitamin C recommended daily allowances for men, women and children are all extrapolated from calculations for a healthy, young, 70-kilogram male," Professor Carr says.
New Zealand has a current daily vitamin C recommendation of 45 milligrams per day as recommended by the World Health Organization.
She says these new findings estimate that an additional 17 mg to 22 mg of vitamin C is needed daily per 10 kg of additional body weight to reach adequate vitamin C levels, as compared to a 70 kg individual.
It showed that only about two-thirds of both cohorts achieved an "adequate" vitamin C plasma concentration by consuming the recommended daily allowance or above, while only between one-third and half of the cohorts achieved "adequate" status with an intake of the RDA plus or minus 10 percent.
International research suggests that obesity may affect the body's vitamin C dose-concentration relationship as a result of low-grade inflammation, which can increase oxidative stress and a potential increased turnover of vitamin C in the body. Obesity is also known to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, both of which are associated with lower vitamin C status.
The study authors suggest that additional vitamin C intake can be easily achieved through either diet or supplements.
"My advice for those who choose to get their vitamin C from a multivitamin is to check the exact amounts of vitamin C per tablet."
She says there is growing evidence internationally that vitamin C is vital for disease prevention.

Too much Vitamin F
Just an observation...Fat people don’t care about vitamins, exercise or anything else related to good health.
If they did, they wouldn’t be fat.
That’s correct.
BS. Fst people get mote done than skinny people, frustrating them still the more, eating to soothe. Idiot skinny people.
They need to eat an extra orange and skip the extra cheeseburger.
Many overeat for mental issues too.
If they could address them that would help them out.
and,as we all know, thin people are superior in intelligence, talent, virtue and likability. And,God must love them more.

I live in an area where there is a large Amish/Mennonite population.
Not many people work harder than they do...and guess what? None of them are fatties.
Ping
I weigh 112 and gave been taking vitamin C every morning for the last 40 years.
My very nice friend is overweight and eats nothing but junk food. I’m giving him a bottle of 1,500 mg Vitamin C tablets because that’s really too much for me. 500 mg is enough.
And btw, my MD prescribes my vitamins (I take more than vitamin C), making them deductible med expenses. Plus, he didn’t think I needed a covid vax because he knows I have an immune system.
That is how you will lose weight.
Kilos to lbs conversion:

Your doctor is a rarity in the world of medicine. The MDs I’ve dealt with over the years don’t know squat about nutrition. I’ve found that ODs are more informed.
I’ve taken vitamins and supplements most of my life as well and walk about 3 miles a day with my dogs. I challenge my immune system by walking in all types of weather...except when it’s extremely hot and humid. I don’t want to stress out my dogs.
No covid, flu or pneumonia shots for me.
PS The latest addition to my health regime is R-Lipoic Acid which has just about cured the peripheral nephropathy in my legs and feet. I’ve been taking it since 12/23. It took about 6 weeks to kick in and now I can sleep through the night.
What kind of symptoms do you have at night that keep you awake?
A newer post is saying vitamin C causes weight gain. So, which is it?
Intense tingling in my feet and legs.
I learned something interesting about Vit C recently that I didn’t know.
Vit C is what regulates how much iron you can absorb from the foods you eat. So if your Vit C is low, you are not getting all the iron your body should be getting.
