Well aside from God doing whatever he wants, even planets can ‘joe biden....
#1 As people and planets get old they have a tendency to go a little eccentric. It just comes with age. I know I sometimes repeat myself. It just comes with age.
In our solar system, Sedna has a similar elongated orbit but in the opposite direction as this one.
Forget this “migrating” garbage.

Retrograde motion leads to a satellite getting closer to the parent star via tidal transfer of momentum. It also is generally considered diagnostic of capture.
A quick synopsis:
