A cop climbed the ladder

I read the cop was being boosted and pulled himself up to look. So no free hand to draw a sidearm. When the shooter pointed the rifle he let go of the roof and fell back to the ground.

Had he been on a ladder he could have backed down, drawn his sidearm, and peeked back up to do a mag dump.

In my opinion it's better to alert there is a sniper. Then he could decide what to do.
